When Ezra returned to his senses, his features returning to their pale and flawless perfection, he could still taste the sweetness of her blood in his mouth.

For a moment he simply stared at the ceiling silent and still, he didn't breathe or even blink, as though he were truly lifeless.

He turned his head to the side and stared at the body on the floor next to him. Its honey-coloured eyes were wide and glassy, its throat mangled and torn.

Ezra began to shake as his face paled in shock, "My love…" he choked out, his hands trembling as he reached towards her, she was already cold.

Bowing his head he gripped onto her body as he cried out, trembling with grief and pain. With every breath he had to take to scream, he could still smell her blood in the air and his mouth watered in response.
