Chapter 3: Purple Chicken Wrap

The night they decided to adopt Skye, Finney returned to his room and used the system to extract his second skill. However, the result was somewhat disappointing.

Compared to the Golden Great Evolution Technique, the second skill was worlds apart, leading Finney to realize that the system could extract anything as a skill.

"Purple Chicken Wrap"

"Source: Food Wars!"

"Description: A dish so delicious, it feels like you're under a spell."

When Finney saw the skill he had drawn, he nearly thought he was seeing things. A chicken wrap? He couldn't believe it. This left him feeling the ups and downs of life all at once.

It took every ounce of his willpower to resist the urge to "uninstall" this broken system—although he wasn't sure how he'd even go about uninstalling it.

After secretly testing the skill, Finney realized it wasn't as useless as he had initially thought.

Unlike the Golden Great Evolution Technique, which required time and effort, the Purple Chicken Wrap could be used immediately and had two activation methods.

The first was to buy ingredients and prepare the dish in a kitchen, following standard procedures.

The second was to summon the wrap out of thin air—no ingredients, no kitchenware needed. By simply activating the skill, he could materialize a ready-to-eat chicken wrap within a one-meter radius, anywhere in his line of sight. And it even came pre-packaged.

Finney's first thought was, "Well, at least if I ever run into any emergencies, I won't have to worry about starving."

Moreover, whether he prepared it himself or summoned it, Finney noticed that using the Purple Chicken Wrap skill slightly increased the experience bar, albeit barely noticeable. It wasn't much, but it was certainly faster than the natural growth he had observed before. This confirmed for him that using skills contributed to the experience bar.

Though the experience gained from the Purple Chicken Wrap was minimal, it still gave Finney hope. At least now, he had a way forward.

Over the next few days, Finney devoted himself to studying these two skills. He tried to recall the exact circumstances of the night he summoned Skye, hoping to replicate the activation of the Golden Great Evolution Technique.

From trying to make Loki lose his tricks to giving Hulk a good temper, Finney gradually reduced the complexity of his wishes. Eventually, he focused on something as simple as making a single strand of hair float. After nearly a minute of concentrated effort, he finally succeeded in using the Golden Great Evolution Technique again.

Even though the ability was weak to an almost laughable degree, Finney was so overjoyed he nearly jumped up and down. Compared to seven years of nothing, this was a massive improvement.

More importantly, he now had a clear direction: use skills, gain experience, and extract new abilities.

After several tests, he discovered a few key points when using the Golden Great Evolution Technique. First, his mind had to be completely clear of distractions. Second, speaking the command aloud seemed to significantly increase the success rate, as verbalizing the thought helped focus his intention and make the command more precise.

For example, when he tried to make a strand of hair float with just his thoughts, it took nearly a minute. But when he gave a spoken command, it took only three seconds.

Unfortunately, using the Golden Great Evolution Technique didn't yield much experience, and the amount gained from floating a strand of hair was even less than what he got from making a chicken wrap.

This left Finney wondering why summoning Skye had granted him so much experience—it was equivalent to nearly five years of natural growth.

Despite the higher experience yield from the Purple Chicken Wrap, Finney didn't dare use it recklessly. If he bought ingredients and cooked, that was fine, but if he summoned too many wraps out of nowhere, he'd never be able to eat them all. Throwing them away would certainly raise suspicions, and if S.H.I.E.L.D. or HYDRA caught wind of it, things could get dangerous.

There was also the issue of skill fatigue. Finney found that overusing the Golden Great Evolution Technique caused headaches and dizziness, while the Purple Chicken Wrap had no such side effects and his proficiency improved rapidly.

When he first acquired the Purple Chicken Wrap, it took about ten seconds to summon one, and he could only make a single wrap at a time.

Now, after eight years, he had reduced the summoning time to just one second, increased the range to five meters, and could summon two wraps simultaneously. Finney was confident that no one in the world—no, in any world—could make chicken wraps faster than he could.

If he worked eight hours a day nonstop, Finney could produce over 50,000 chicken wraps.

Physics? Conservation of mass? Science? Finney's Purple Chicken Wrap was pure magic.

Eight years had passed, and Finney still hadn't filled the experience bar for a third extraction. It wasn't for lack of effort; it was simply that the experience gained from the Purple Chicken Wrap was pitifully small.

He couldn't just find a random spot and make wraps infinitely, so this was the result. Still, the experience bar was almost full after all this time, and it wouldn't be long before he could draw his third skill.

Looking back, the amount of experience gained from his first successful use of the Golden Great Evolution Technique was staggering.

Finney decided that if his third skill was also useless in combat, he'd have to start thinking about relying on the existing resources of the Marvel world to enhance his strength.

His thoughts returned to the present, where Skye sat in silence in front of him. Finney sighed and said, "Let's head to the shop first. I'll explain everything once we get there."

Skye, still affected by their earlier conversation, said nothing more and started the car.

The shop Finney referred to was a small eatery he and Skye had opened together after she graduated from high school two years ago.

The place wasn't big, but it was located in the prestigious and expensive Upper East Side of Manhattan. Even though it was slightly tucked away, it was already quite the accomplishment to secure such a location.

As they drove through Manhattan, with its towering skyscrapers and bustling storefronts, the first thing Finney saw through the car window was the iconic Stark Tower, a constant reminder of the world he now lived in.

In just one year, that flashy playboy would usher in a new era.

When they arrived at the shop, Finney looked at the sign that read "Open Irregularly" and glanced helplessly at Skye, who gave him an innocent look. He took the sign down with a sigh.

"Hey, Finney! Skye! You're finally here."

"We've been waiting forever! Hurry up and open the shop!"

As soon as they arrived, a group of people suddenly appeared out of nowhere, excitedly greeting them before quickly forming a line at the shop door, waiting for it to open.

"Finney, you're thirty minutes late today," said a man at the front of the line, grumbling as Finney unlocked the door.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Doch. We had a little business at school today!" Finney replied with a smile. Even though they called it a snack shop, it really only sold one item—the Purple Chicken Wrap, which he had been making for eight years.

"All right, all right, enough chit-chat. I'm starving," someone further back in the line shouted impatiently. "Finney, I've been saying this for a while—you should quit school. We'll invest in you, and you can turn this chicken wrap into a chain store. I guarantee it'll take America by storm."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm in. I'll invest for sure."

The crowd eagerly chimed in, ready to throw money at him, while Skye rolled her eyes, clearly used to this scene by now. Still, she had to admit that Finney's chicken wrap was the best food she'd ever tasted.

"Enough, enough. I've told you guys, this is just a hobby. I have bigger dreams," Finney said with a helpless smile as he entered the shop to get things ready. Though the sign said "Open Irregularly," he showed up almost every weekend to practice his skills, which had earned him a loyal customer base.
