In a dim underground bar in Kamino City, the current hideout of the League of Villains, Tomura Shigaraki sat alone at the counter.
He slowly swirled a wine glass filled with a light red liquid in his hand. A severed hand wearing a white glove rested on the table beside him.
There was no music playing to lighten the atmosphere, only a television with a black screen. At that moment, a swirling mass of purple-black mist appeared out of thin air at the entrance of the bar.
Although it made no sound, Tomura, who had been waiting, noticed it immediately. The corners of his mouth lifted faintly.
"They're here."
He was looking forward to the surprising results of the plan. As the mist settled, two figures appeared stacked on top of one another.
Tomura's expression froze instantly, and he stopped swirling the glass.
"Twice? Himiko Toga?"
The two of them were unconscious. Himiko lay draped over Twice's back, both of them limp.
Tomura gently set the wine glass down, then picked up the white hand and placed it over his face. He slowly walked over and crouched down to examine their condition.
But once he looked closely, he immediately recognized an all-too-familiar type of injury.
Tomura had experienced it himself: the slightly steaming skin, large-scale burns, and the periodic twitching of the muscles.
"Kaminari... Denki!"
He had expected casualties. After all, they were up against four top-ranked pro heroes and two U.A. teachers.
Not to mention Kaminari Denki. So this outcome didn't surprise him much—but it still infuriated him.
Suddenly, a figure flew out of Kurogiri's portal, shot past Tomura's crouched body, slammed into the wooden wall across the bar, then collapsed to the floor.
Bang—!
"Compress?!"
Compress was in rough shape. The white mask on his face had shattered completely, and fragments were scattered around where he fell.
Though his body twitched and he couldn't get up right away, he was at least still conscious, unlike Twice and Himiko.
Compress slowly lifted his head and muttered in a hoarse voice…"
Tomura began to feel uneasy. In his mind, Compress was among the top three fighters under his command.
"What happened? How could you…"
Before he could finish questioning him, another figure appeared in the mist, this time stepping out calmly.
Dabi, his coat covered in dust, walked through Kurogiri's portal. His dead-fish eyes met Tomura's before the latter could speak.
"If you don't have any backup plans, I suggest you abandon the Kaminari Denki mission."
Tomura's expression darkened. His mood soured instantly, and his gaze turned sharp.
"Reason."
"Power," Dabi answered, leaning against the wall as he looked at the unconscious Twice and Himiko, then at Compress, lying motionless nearby.
"With the strength that guy showed... even if we attacked together, we might not be able to beat him. Let alone capture him."
As he spoke, Dabi instinctively recalled that blinding golden flash. He had seen it—but his body hadn't had time to react.
In that instant, he had truly felt the terror of death.
Tomura fell silent. He didn't fully believe Dabi's claim. He slowly stood up, touched the white glove covering his face, and pointed at the two on the floor.
"You're saying Kaminari Denki did all of this alone?"
"Not just him," Dabi replied, unfazed by Tomura's intimidating tone. "Muscular was taken down too."
"Where is he?"
"Judging by the fact he didn't return, Kurogiri must've teleported him somewhere else. You can ask him later, but…"
Before Dabi could finish, Kurogiri appeared once again. Both Dabi and Tomura turned to look.
Sure enough, Kurogiri emerged from the mist the next second, shouting in panic.
"Heart—!"
Before he could finish, a blinding golden light burst from the swirling black-purple mist behind him.
The brilliant light, bright as the sun, blasted Kurogiri and the two unconscious members aside.
Then it surged forward, crashing toward Dabi and Tomura, destroying wooden walls, bar counters, chairs, and lights in its path.
Bang—!
Tomura raised his right hand, touching the golden light. A translucent shockwave spread through the air, ruffling his white bangs.
Dabi saw Tomura's gloved hand touch the light, and watched as the blinding energy dissipated like snow melting under heat.
"Even non-physical energy can be destroyed? That Quirk…" His wariness toward Tomura deepened.
"These gloves are pretty useful," Tomura muttered, lowering his hand and looking at the glove.
Although they looked the same as his old ones, their materials were completely different.
After losing to Kaminari last time, he had specially developed these support gloves to insulate against electricity, resist high temperatures, and endure physical attacks, without interfering with his Quirk's activation.
But his attention quickly shifted back to Kurogiri, now lying in front of the shattered bar, coughing up blood. Nearby were Twice and Watana, both seriously injured.
"A real man, huh?"
Tomura stepped forward and asked with a rare trace of concern. Of everyone in the League of Villains, Kurogiri was the one he trusted most.
"Cough... thankfully, most of my body is immune to physical attacks. The rest is reinforced with high-strength metal," Kurogiri replied, eyeing the now-vanished portal with lingering fear.
That golden flash had followed him through the portal. Because he'd opened and shut the teleport so quickly, only a portion of the energy made it through.
But even that was enough to injure him severely. His black cloak had been completely burned away, and the metallic core of his body was glowing red from the heat.
"God's Sanction…"
That was the last voice he'd heard before escaping.
Kurogiri couldn't imagine what would've happened if he hadn't teleported in time and had taken the full brunt of the attack.
"What happened? What happened during the mission? Tell me everything!" Tomura's expression turned completely cold. Even the eyes behind his glove glowed faint red.
"The mission… can be considered a success. We accomplished our objective," Kurogiri said, half-leaning against the bar after a moment's thought.
"It's just... we paid a steep price."
