Resuming back to work after been gone for a while was strange.
It was hard at first, trying to get back into the familiar rhythm. Juliette tried to ease me into the workload, taking the brunt of it herself.
But I did not let her do that. And before I knew it, I was spending more and more time at the office, only heading back home when I realised that it was too late for me to go on.
My husband, who always got home earlier than I did, would take care of the kids. Most of the times, Noah and Harriet were asleep by the time I got back.
Today, I had gotten home some minutes to midnight. And from the moment I walked in and saw the look on Kieran's face, I knew he wasn't happy.
"Hey, baby," I greeted as I walked in, walking over to kiss him. He didn't look away.
Nor did he kiss me back.
"You okay?" I asked, slightly worried. I was exhausted beyond measure, but if my husband needed me to be there for him, then I would be.
