CHAPTER 173

KIERAN

Edwina kept getting worse.

My wife stopped spending time at home.

She stayed later and later at work, only coming home when the night was at its darkest. I didn't stop waiting up for her. It was impossible for me to do that, when I was dead worried about her. But whenever I hear the door beep, indicating her arrival, I went back into the room and pretended to be asleep.

Not that she noticed though.

All my attempts to talk to her fell into deaf ears. It was as though she was possessed by a work spirit or something.

Juliette contacted me first, and asked if something happened between me and my wife for her to throw herself into work like that.

I told her no, that I was worried as hell about my wife too.

She had no time for me, but most especially for her kids. Our kids.
