I wiggle the tinkle bell on the end of the elf cap then allow it to touch Madison’s cheek. Her eyes squeeze tight, her nose wrinkles, and her lips purse.
“Stop,” she gripes. “Make it stop!”
“I would, but Cameron is counting on you. You promised her, so you need to get up,” I remind her, safely out of arms’ reach.
“Fine,” she spits, sitting up with the. “What the…”
Her eyes look to me. They struggle to focus then process the sight of her husband. I’m prepared for this reaction. I give it five minutes, then she’ll spring up and join in the fun.
“Oh my gosh!” She covers her open mouth with her hand. “What are you doing?” She laughs.
“It’s Black Friday,” I begin to explain. “You usually decorate your bedroom and car today.”
Her eyes grow wide with the realization of holiday fun to come.
“You start playing Christmas music on Black Friday,” I add. “I thought since you had a book event and couldn’t decorate at home, I’d find a way to let you celebrate your favorite holiday.”
