Chapter 22: Shopping

John Doe looked up at the top of Karin Tower, as if gazing at the Temple of Heaven above. "I think the next step is to go to the Temple of Heaven and continue my training under the guidance of the god," he said.

The Cat Sage's heart skipped a beat, and he raised his cane, pointing it at John. "Who are you, and how do you know about the god and his residence?" he asked sternly.

John pushed down the cane and replied, "I'm just an ordinary Earthling who respects the god. I don't intend to offend him. I know that the god is the strongest being on Earth, and I want to train under his guidance to become the strongest person on the planet."

The Cat Sage shook his head, "I'm sorry, but without the god's permission, I can't let you meet him."

John shook his head, "That's a shame, but I believe the god will eventually agree to meet me. I have faith that day will come soon."

John had anticipated the Cat Sage's reaction and didn't insist on going to the Temple of Heaven to meet the god.

In truth, John's primary interest wasn't in training with the god but in accessing the Spirit Time Room located within the temple. The high-pressure, low-oxygen, and high-gravity environment of the Spirit Time Room was ideal for training.

John's true goal was to experience the divine power of the god, hoping to gain insight into the god's ki. Although the god's power was weak, John believed that by sensing it, he might be able to comprehend the god's ki.

After all, both the Ultra Instinct and the Power of Destruction could only be fully utilized in the presence of godly ki.

"Since you won't let me meet the god, I'll have to leave," John said. "But before I go, Cat Sage, don't you want to give me a gift? Or perhaps I can trade something with you?" he said with a smile.

"A gift? Do you want a Flying Nimbus? I can give you one, but I'm not sure if you can ride it," the Cat Sage offered.

"No, no, I don't need a Flying Nimbus!" John quickly declined, well aware that he wouldn't be able to ride it. Even Goku, who could ride the Nimbus, might not be able to do so as an adult.

The Cat Sage was puzzled by John's refusal. "If you don't want the Nimbus, what do you want? I don't have many treasures here."

John's eyes fell on the jar filled with Senzu Beans, and he said, "How about some Senzu Beans?"

"Senzu Beans? Sure, I can give you a few," the Cat Sage agreed, thinking John only wanted a few.

"No, not a few," John clarified. "I was thinking half a jar would be nice."

"What? Half a jar of Senzu Beans? Have you lost your mind? Do you know how hard it is for me to gather these beans? I can only grow ten beans a year, and you want half a jar!" The Cat Sage was shocked by John's request and began to yell.

The Cat Sage's shrill voice made John cover his ears. Once the Cat Sage calmed down, John said, "Can I trade something for them?"

The Cat Sage hesitated. As the guardian of the Temple of Heaven, he was bound to Karin Tower and couldn't leave. His duty was to protect the temple until he died or was killed in battle.

This meant the Cat Sage couldn't travel the world like a regular person and enjoy various delicacies.

The Cat Sage had two great passions: curiosity and a love for food.

While he could satisfy his curiosity by observing the world through the jars, he couldn't indulge his love for food. As a sage, he couldn't steal human food through the jars.

He couldn't hunt animals and bring them to Karin Tower, as that would defile the sacred site with blood.

So, his only source of meat was fishing in rivers and lakes around the world using the jars, and even then, he had to catch small fish that could fit through the jar's opening.

Hearing that John was willing to trade, the Cat Sage's love for food stirred. "What do you want to trade for them?" he finally asked.

Seeing the Cat Sage's eagerness, John smiled and said, "It's up to you. As long as it's available on Earth, I can get it for you."

The Cat Sage immediately listed his desires, "I want high-quality fish, beef, and cat food. I've heard that cats love catnip, so I'd like some of that too. Those are the main things, and you can decide the rest."

"No problem," John assured him, patting his chest. "I'll make sure you're satisfied."

After bidding farewell to the Cat Sage, John descended Karin Tower and said goodbye to Bora and Upa. He then flew towards West City in his plane.

To fulfill the Cat Sage's requests, John would need the resources of the Capsule Corporation.

When he arrived at Bulma's house, she was working on designing a gravity control room in her lab. Seeing John, she greeted him enthusiastically, "John, you're just in time. What do you think of my design for the gravity control room?"

John, not an expert in the field, glanced at the design and noted its similarity to the gravity control room he had seen in the manga. "I don't understand these things, but as long as it serves its purpose, that's fine with me," he replied.

Bulma, sensing John's disinterest, tried to shoo him out of her lab.

"Bulma, I came here for a favor," John said. "Can you arrange for a procurement officer to accompany me on a shopping trip?"

"What do you need to buy?" Bulma asked, curious. In her mind, John was a simple man who preferred training clothes to fashionable attire.

John explained the Cat Sage's requests, specifying that he wanted one ton of each item, stored in capsules with refrigeration capabilities.

In addition to the food, John also purchased various household items for the Cat Sage, including a bed, refrigerator, generator, television, and more, aiming to improve the Cat Sage's living conditions.
