"Trying to Settle Things"

Miro returned to the dorm, his thoughts swirling as he walked. The talk with Maya had been helpful, but the prospect of actually talking to Luna still filled him with anxiety. He took a deep breath, steeling himself, and pushed open the door. The room was dark, the lights switched off and the curtains drawn.

He couldn't make out if Luna was there, but he heard a soft rustling sound coming from one of the beds. He stepped further into the room, his heart thudding in his chest.

As his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he saw a lump under one of the covers on one of the beds. It had to be Luna. He could hear her breathing, slow and even in sleep. He stood there for a moment, watching her, conflicting emotions warring within him.

Part of him wanted to wake her up, talk to her right then and there, get it over with. But another part, a bigger part, didn't want to disturb her. She looked so peaceful, so untroubled. He couldn't bring himself to wake her, to ruin the tranquility of the moment.

Miro moved closer to the bed, hovering over the sleeping form for a moment. He took a deep breath, his heart pounding in his chest. Then, softly, he called her name. "Luna?." Luna stirred at the sound of her name, groggily opening her eyes.

She looked dazed and disoriented for a moment, not yet fully awake. As her eyes focused on Miro, she slowly sat up in her bed, pushing back the covers.

"Miro?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. "What are you doing here?" Miro swallowed hard, his stomach twisting in knots. He had no idea how she was going to react to him waking her up in the middle of the night. Taking a deep breath, he spoke, his voice quiet. "I... I need to talk to you. It can't wait."

Luna looked at him, her eyes narrowed in confusion. "It can't wait until morning?" she asked, a hint of irritation in her voice. "I was fast asleep, you know." Luna's expression clouded over as she remembered the fight they had. The anger and hurt from the argument rushed back into the forefront of her mind, and she shot a glare at Miro. "Why do you want to talk now, after ignoring me all day?"

Miro winced at the glare, her words hitting a nerve. "I didn't ignore you on purpose," he protested. "Not completely. I just... I needed some time to think, to sort out my feelings."

"Time to think? What about me, then?" Luna shot back, her voice rising. "I've been feeling like crap all day because of our fight. You could have at least let me know you were okay."

Miro felt a pang at her words. He knew she was right he should have reached out to her, even if he wasn't ready to talk. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice low. "I know I messed up. I should have told you I needed space, instead of just avoiding you."

Luna looked at him for a moment, her expression softening slightly. "Why did you want to talk now, then?" she asked, her voice quieter. "It's the middle of the night. Couldn't it have waited?."

Miro shifted uncomfortably under her gaze. He knew he was probably waking her up for no reason, but he needed to get this off his chest. "I... I wanted to say I'm sorry," he said, his voice earnest. "For the fight, for avoiding you. I was wrong. I was angry and stupid, and I said things I didn't mean."

Luna's temper flared again, her eyes narrowing. "You were wrong, and you're sorry, huh? You think that makes everything better? You can't just waltz in here in the middle of the night and expect me to forgive you because you said you're sorry."

"I know it doesn't fix everything," Miro replied, his voice measured. "But it's a start, right? I want to make things right between us, Luna. I miss talking to you, hanging out with you. I can't stand this... tension between us."

Luna looked at him, her expression a mix of hurt and anger. "You can't just flip a switch and expect everything to go back to normal," she said, her voice brittle. "I'm still mad, okay? You hurt me, and it's not that easy to forgive and forget."

Miro knew he deserved her anger. He had hurt her, and he had been a coward avoiding her. But he also knew he couldn't give up. "I know I can't fix this overnight," he said, taking a step closer to her bed. "But I'm not asking you to forgive me right away. Just hear me out, please."

Luna looked at him for a long moment, her gaze searching his face. He could see the conflict in her eyes, her anger warring with her hurt. Finally, she sighed, some of the tension draining from her shoulders. "Fine," she said, her voice resigned. "Talk. But I'm still mad at you, so don't expect me to be kind."

Miro nodded, relief washing over him. He wasn't fooled by her harsh tone; he knew she was giving him a chance, even if she didn't want to admit it. He sat down on the edge of her bed, a small distance between them. "I don't expect you to be kind, but I do hope you'll listen, at least."

"I'm listening," Luna said, her voice still sharp. "But if you're just going to give me some meaningless apologies, I'd rather get back to sleep." Miro took a deep breath, steadying himself. "It's not meaningless," he said, holding her gaze. "I'm not just saying sorry because I feel like I should. I am sorry, Luna. For everything. For the argument, for avoiding you, for being a jerk."

"But it's not just words," Miro continued, leaning forward a little. "I want to make things right, if you'll let me. I don't want to lose you as a friend, Luna. You're more important to me than any stupid fight."

Miro continued, his voice sincere. "I've been doing a lot of thinking today," he admitted. "And I realized I was acting like a idiot. I just... I got so caught up in my own feelings, I didn't stop to consider yours. I acted impulsively, and I hurt you because of it. And I'm really sorry for that."

Miro paused, gathering his thoughts. "I let my anger control me," he said, his voice tinged with regret. "I said things I don't mean, and I acted like a jerk. I wasn't thinking about you, or our friendship. I was thinking about me and my stubborn pride." He shifted on the bed, uncomfortable with his own behavior. "And the longer I avoided you, the worse I felt. I realized how much I missed talking to you, how much I value your friendship."

"I should have talked to you instead of avoiding you," Miro continued. "I should have been honest with you, and listened to your side of things. But I was scared, and I let my own insecurities and pride get the better of me. And I'm so sorry for shutting you out." He looked at her, his expression earnest. "But I'm done doing that. I don't care about my stupid pride anymore. I just want us to be okay, to go back to the way things were."

The silence in the room was palpable. Miro could feel the tension, the weight of the moment. Luna was just looking at him, her expression unreadable. He couldn't tell if she was angry, conflicted, or simply lost in thought.

Will she forgive him?..or Just end their friendship.
