chapter four

Katelyn hated Vanessa with a passion. She saw her coaching Faith as a way to let her replace their past friendship.

Vanessa said "Great job Faith. You are doing great."

Faith said "Can I stop now? I need to go to the bathroom."

Vanessa said "Of course. We start again tomorrow."

Faith said "thank you."

Meanwhile in the lounge Scott and Katelyn were talking amongst themselves.

Scott said "Why do you hate her so much? She seems like a nice person."

Katelyn said "This is what Vanessa does to people. She seems at first like your best friend and then anything that she wants she finds a way to get it. Even if someone else already has the thing that she wants."

Scott said "Maybe she has changed."

Katelyn said "I seriously doubt it. People like her do not change."

Scott said "Honey people do change. Faith trusts her. Why don't you?"

Katelyn said "Faith trusts her because she is a child. Children trust everyone that they meet. They do not know how manipulative people like Vanessa are."

Scott said "I do not think she is like that anymore."

Katelyn rolled her eyes and said "You have fallen into her trap. She has lured you in with her behavior."

Then Vanessa came up to the lounge. She grabbed some chilly from the food court. Then she plugged in her laptop and set up her webcam. Then her husband appeared on the screen.

Vanessa said "Hi honey how are you?"

Her husband said "Good how are you and the baby?"

Vanessa said "Pretty good. Here is the good news. My latest prodigy is the stepdaughter of my old friend Katelyn."

Her husband said "Have you and Katelyn mended your bounds with each other?"

Vanessa said "No she still hates me with a passion. I do not understand why. I mean I have done all that I can do in order to change her mind."

Her husband said "Do not worry. Maybe she is just stuck in her ways."

Vanessa said "Are you sure?"

Her husband said " Yes I am sure."

Then he hung up. Then she walked over to Katelyn and Scott.

Scott said "How is Faith"s training going?"

Vanessa said "She is doing really well for her first time. Tell me did her mother teach her?"

Scott said "No Sariah did gymnastics. But the cancer took that away from her."

This was the first time that Scott had talked about the disease that his late wife had died from. Katelyn knew that this subject was very hard for Scott to about.

Vanessa said "My condolences. So, are these your twins Kate?"

Katelyn said "Yes their names are Denise and Amanda."

Vanessa said "They are so cute."

Katelyn said "So, how are you doing with you pregnancy?"

Vanessa said "Pretty good. It is a girl."

Scott said "that sounds really exciting. Have you and your husband thought of names yet?"

Vanessa said "Not really."

Katelyn said "Are you going to go back to skating after the baby is born?"

Vanessa said "I might or I might retire like you did."

Katelyn said "The only reason why I retired is because of the fact that I got injured. If it were not for that injury I would still be skating."

Scott said "what happened?"

Katelyn said "I had broke my ankle."

Vanessa said "You know could you compete again."

Katelyn said "no I have a family now."

Scott said "Honey you do not have to give up your dreams just because of you have us as your family now."

Katelyn said "I have a good job now and I am in a good place . I am sure that our old coach is no even still coaching."

Vanessa said "Lizzy is still coaching. I am sure that she would love to coach you again."

Katelyn said "No this is Faith's time to shine not mine."

Vanessa said "Katelyn are you mad at me?"

Katelyn rolled her eyes again and said "No I just want my daughter to do all that she can. I do not want her to have a friend like you."

Vanessa said "What do you mean by that?"

Katelyn said "You know exactly what I mean. I mean you should know why you and I became rivals in the first place."

Vanessa said "No I really do not remember why we became rivals in the first place."

Katelyn said "You know I do not remember either."

Vanessa said "Could we possibly be friends again?"

Katelyn said "I do not know that is totally up you Vanessa."

Vanessa said "I think that we could. "

Then Faith came over and said "Mommy I am ready to go."

Katelyn said "Let me finish feeding your sisters their formula. Then we will go."

Vanessa had rested her hand on her pregnant belly. That is was when the baby that was in her womb started kicking for the first time.

Vanessa said "The baby must have liked that bowl of chilly that I just ate. She is kicking. Katelyn do you want to feel?"

Faith said "Can I feel the baby kicking mommy?"

Katelyn said "Sure you can go first."

Faith then touched Vanessa's belly.

Faith said "It tickles mommy. Is it a boy or a girl coach Vanessa?"

Vanessa said "It is a girl."

That evening Katelyn was invited to a dinner party at another Navy wife's house. The name of this Navy wife was Imelda Lopez. At the party they were talking about their lives before they married their husbands.

Hannah said "So, Katelyn what led you to leave the Mormon church?"

Katelyn said "I would rather not talk about it."

My friend Renee said "She doesn't have to talk about if she does not want to."

Hannah said "Katelyn please tell us."

Renee said "Please do not pressure her Hannah."

Imelda said "Let's play a game."

Katelyn said "what is the name of the game?"

Imelda said "The name of the game is Career Charades. "

Hannah said "Okay what is is this game about?"

Renee said "Oh I have played this game before. I will go first."

So, Renee got up and made moves that made her look like she was doing some type of dance.

Hannah said "Ballerina?"

Renee shook her head then she did another move that made her look like she was teaching something.

Katelyn said "Dance teacher?"

Renee nodded her head yes. Then she sat down and Hannah got and did a move like she was reading a book.

Imelda said "Librarian?'

Hannah shook her head no and did some more moves that made her look like she was teaching a class.

I said "College professor?"

Hannah shook her her no again. Then she did some moves that made her look like she was showing us a book. This was when Katelyn got super embrasured.

Imelda said "Sunday School Teacher?"

Hannah said "Yes."

At the end of the party Katelyn tried her hardest to leave but Hannah pulled her aside.

Hannah said "So,now can you tell me why you left the church?"

Katelyn said "Why do you need to know?"

Hannah said "I am just curious."

Katelyn said "Alright if you must know I was marred before Scott. I had gotten married in the Nauvoo Temple. My ex-husband was really abusive. And the bishop of that ward did not do anything about it. That is why I left the church."

Hannah said "Oh I am so sorry. So that is why you left the church."
