Prince Kael descended into the dungeon beneath his manor, passing the greeting guards who stood watch at the entrance. As he made his way down the cold, dimly lit corridor, the sound of his footsteps echoed off the stone walls.
He halted his movement when he spotted Miranda in a cell before him. Inside, she sat with her back against the wall, her head tilted upwards as she slept soundly. Prince Kael gazed at her for a while, obviously surprised by how she could sleep so peacefully in such a foreboding place.
Miranda looked worry-free, her face serene as she slumbered in the dungeon. Prince Kael wondered to himself, "How can she sleep at a time like this?" The reason he had come to see her was that he had worried she might be having a difficult time, but after witnessing her tranquil slumber, he felt reassured that his decision to let her stay in the dungeon for a few days was the right one.
