The next day, in a run-down church, Yang Tian and Daphne were taking care of the last remaining zombies.
"Nice job." Yang Tian nodded in satisfaction as he watched Daphne hit a slow-moving zombie right in the head. He pulled out a green crystal from his pocket and said, "You did great today, but there's one more step—eat this."
Daphne frowned at the glowing crystal and asked, puzzled, "What is it?"
"It'll make you stronger. Maybe it'll help you get home more easily," Yang Tian explained. He looked straight into Daphne's eyes and asked, "Are you brave enough to try it?"
Daphne hesitated for a moment, then took the crystal, closed her eyes, and swallowed it.
Yang Tian teased, "Aren't you afraid it could be poison?"
"If you wanted to kill me, you could've done it anytime. Besides... after all this time, I know you're a good person," Daphne replied firmly.
Yang Tian scratched his head, feeling a bit awkward. He hadn't expected to be called a "good person."
After a while, Daphne opened her eyes and moved her body. Yang Tian asked, "How do you feel? Physically, I mean."
Daphne smiled, "I think I really do feel more agile!" She drew her handgun from her waist, her stance much faster and more precise than before. Daphne ran a few steps, clearly more nimble compared to before, although still not quite on par with an athlete.
"Seems like my guess was right." Yang Tian thought to himself, already planning, "The 'Girl Development Plan' can officially begin, though finding the materials is going to be tough."
Meanwhile, far off in a distant building, a military squad was watching the church through binoculars.
"Captain, it's here. He entered the church with a human girl," one of the soldiers reported.
Kelly frowned at the sight of the church. "A human girl? She must've been forced. According to intel, that zombie's intelligent. What's he planning with a human girl?"
Several soldiers exchanged knowing glances, grinning slyly. Ignoring their expressions, Kelly ordered, "We can't let one person get in the way of the mission. Once the fight starts, hit them with everything you've got. Draw out any zombies, and clean them up within ten minutes."
The soldiers responded with enthusiasm and began preparing for the assault. Kelly looked at her watch. "Time's up. Start the operation."
Suddenly, the windows of the church shattered as the attack began. Yang Tian moved quickly to shield Daphne, dodging the incoming fire from all directions. Rockets and grenades rained down, the deafening explosions filling the air, smoke swirling, and the church furniture blown to bits.
Yang Tian held onto Daphne, rushing towards the back courtyard, only to see a rocket hurtling towards them. With all his strength, he threw himself sideways, narrowly avoiding the blast. The first floor of the church was almost completely obliterated.
The soldier with the rocket launcher laughed loudly, "With this much firepower, he's either dead or crippled!"
But at that moment, the smoke inside the church was replaced by a thick white mist, spreading through the entire building in mere seconds. The mist was so dense it made visibility nearly impossible.
"Captain, what's going on? Should we keep firing?" a team member's nervous voice came over the radio.
Kelly felt the overwhelming presence of the mist. After turning a few times, she could no longer tell which way was which, her heart filled with shock.
Just what kind of being is Yang Tian?!
