...
The shrill siren echoed throughout the ship, a symbol that the ship was beginning to set sail.
"It looks like it's already setting sail" – I said as I watched the big ship move away from the shore.
"And just as Horace jumped; Are you glad you jumped in when we told you?" – Hugh said.
"Quite a lot, otherwise, I would have stayed on solid ground" – Horace nodded.
"Guys, this is not the time to talk nonsense, we have to focus and think about what to do" – Emma said.
"I think it's clear what we have to do, to enter by force, look for Miss Peregrine and leave" - Enoch said.
"Very smart, Enoch. Can you also think about where we should go if we get Miss Peregrine back? By then we will be in the middle of the sea: Where do you intend to go then?" – said Olive.
Enoch seemed to think Olive was right, so he didn't even bother to protest.
"Listen, to begin with, we have to remove all the wights from the ship" – I said.
"Do you expect us to kill them?" - asked Bronwyn.
"That's right, we must get rid of all the wights here and we must do it as soon as possible" – I nodded.
To be honest, I want to say goodbye to my father before I leave for good. During the whole time I left him I was thinking and decided that saying goodbye to him is something I should do. He deserved it. I know that going back when we are on the high seas could be risky, but I need to do it.
"Jacob is right, we must kill them, otherwise and if they find an opportunity, they will be the ones to kill us" – Emma nodded.
"Ok" - Bronwyn nodded.
"I agree" – said Olive.
"The brother is right, otherwise they will prevent us from rescuing Miss Peregrine. There is no other choice" – Claire nodded.
And the twins nodded too.
Overall, everyone nodded and seemed ready to kill the wights. Should I feel some remorse in saying this? No, and I have already said the reason before, anyone who dares to harm my family, deserves death, no matter who it is, besides, the wights will try to kill us the moment we see them and we have nowhere to go, it was to kill them or be killed, we had no choice.
"I propose that we start with the sentinels, the ones who were watching before" - Millard proposed.
"Do you think they'll still be there after they set sail?" – Hugh asked.
"That's right, they're probably gone by now" – Enoch nodded.
"Millard is right, we must go over there and check if they are there. If they're not there, we'll think to what to do then" – I nodded.
Slowly and looking around continuously, we headed straight for the bow of the ship, where those two wights with guns were located.
When we arrived, we could see that they were both still there, but they seemed a little more relaxed and were talking to each other about something I could not hear.
"They are there, we better act now" – Emma said.
"Well, I'll distract them and when they're looking the other way, take advantage and kill them" - Millard said.
"Good" – I nodded.
Millard took off all his clothes becoming totally invisible and quickly made his way towards the wights, who didn't seem to notice anything at all.
When Millard got close enough, he began to make noise, which alerted the wights who quickly turned to see.
*Note: for those who are asking, the wights can know if a person is peculiar but they can't know where they are, that's the reason why the wight didn't notice Millard.
"Now" - I said.
Bronwyn, Emma, and I went quickly where the wights were.
"Huh?" – said one of the wight. - "What?".
But they did not have time to raise the alarm, for Bronwyn broke the neck of one and Emma and I the other, surprisingly, I felt nothing when I killed the wight and saw his corpse lying on the ground, lifeless. For some reason I didn't feel any aversion when normally, someone who was never involved in a situation like this, would vomit and start getting dizzy.
"Well done, Millard, put on your clothes and let's move on" - Emma said.
Millard put his clothes back on and we walked on the ship, silently so that our presence would not be noticed.
We walked slowly through the long corridors of the ship and found several wights armed only with a nightstick watching the area, as was obvious, we killed them following the same strategy as the other time, Millard made noise to distract the wights and while they were distracted, Bronwyn, I and Emma killed them, that's what we did with the dozens of wights we found walking.
"The ship is bigger than I thought" - said Olive.
"Yes: How will we find Miss Peregrine on such a big ship?" – Claire asked.
We had gone through quite a few parts of the ship and found nothing at all, only wights watching the area, some with guns and others only with nightsticks, but no sign of Miss Peregrine or Golan.
"I think we should capture a wight alive and interrogate him" - Fiona suggested.
Fiona had been pretty quiet until now, but her idea wasn't bad at all, in fact, it was a great idea.
"Okay, let's get going" - I said.
Everyone accepted Fiona's idea because it was a fantastic idea, so we started walking and either the luck of the protagonist or simply because we were destined for them, but we found a lone wight walking down the corridors. Unfortunately, we didn't realize and when he saw us. He was somewhat surprised, but just when he was going to take out his gun and raise the alarm, I formed a wind blade and threw his gun to the ground.
In one swift move, Bronwyn grabbed the wight and threw him to the ground.
"Let me go, bastards!" – said the wight.
"Does anyone have a rag or something to prevent him from talking?" – I asked.
"Take this" – Olive said.
It was a fairly large white scarf, perfect for gagging someone.
Without waiting a second longer, I picked up the handkerchief and tied his mouth who was trying to break free, but without any success, because Bronwyn's strength was on a completely different level, no matter how strong the wights were, Bronwyn could beat them with a single finger.
Once gagged, we took him to one of the many cabins that were there and, after verifying that it was empty, we went inside and closed the door. After that, we sit the wight on the bed and remove the gag.
"Bastards, release me and I promise that your death will be less painful!" – exclaimed the wight.
Without hesitation, I slapped him all over the face using all the strength I could muster.
"Now listen to me well, you bastard, we want you to tell us where Golan has the Ymbrynes. If you do, I promise not to torture you, otherwise, forget about us being nice to you" – I said in a dark tone.
"Heh! Do you think I'm afraid of your threats? I will never tell you the location of your Ymbryne! It is a very valuable commodity!" – exclaimed the wight.
"Bastard!" – Emma exclaimed.
She already had fire ready in her hands, ready to incinerate that filthy wight in front of her, but Jacob gestured and dissipated the fire.
"Look, we can do it by hook or by crook, if you don't tell us what we're asking you by good means... Emma won't mind burning you to death or Bronwyn won't mind breaking all your bones and even I myself might cut in pieces you with my peculiarity. As you can see, we have many ways to torture you without you dying, so start talking or prepare to be tortured in the worst possible way" – I said.
Well, we weren't really that cruel, but we needed to instill fear in him, such an excruciating fear, that he would speak out of fear of being tortured.
"My pulse will not tremble when I do it, in fact, I am wishing" – Emma said with two fireballs in both hands.
"Neither do I" - Bronwyn said, cracking her knuckles.
"My bees will be happy to help too" – Hugh said as a couple of bees flew around him.
"And... I can bite you too" - Claire said showing her other mouth.
Claire didn't like violence, but right now, there was no time for mercy, otherwise, they would be killed by the wights and Miss Peregrine would be taken to god knows where.
"As you can see, we don't mind experimenting with you various torture methods, so start talking or prepare to be tortured" – I said forming a huge sphere of wind in my hand.
The wight was terrified, who were these peculiars and why were they so terrifying? Although he knew that he would not come out alive no matter what, to be tortured by them and their peculiarities... It was worse than death, so he decided that he would speak, so at least he would have a quick and painless death.
"I'll talk" - said the wight.
I could tell that the wight was shaking uncontrollably, in fact, it was even possible that he wet himself, although... do wights relieve themselves or don't they need it anymore? A good question.
"We hear you" – I said.
"Golan has your Ymbryne on deck. Behind the helm room, there's another room, that's where he has them" – said the wight.
"Ok" – I said.
"Tell us: What do you plan to do with the Ymbrynes? Why are you kidnapping them?" – Olive asked suddenly.
Good question that I almost forgot.
"Do you think a simple pawn as me could know that? I only follow orders from my boss" – said the wight.
"Emma" – I said.
"With pleasure" – Emma smiled.
Then, she covered her entire hand with fire and brought it close to the wight's face.
"Wait! I swear to you on my life that I know nothing about anything! In truth, only those at the top know! If you manage to meet Golan, he will explain it to you!" – exclaimed the wight terrified.
"What do you think?" – I asked.
"I think we need to torture him, I think he is lying" – Enoch said.
"I think he tells the truth and knows nothing, no one could lie in the situation he is in" - Millard said.
"That's right, just look at him, he's so scared he might even wet himself" – Hugh nodded.
"I don't think he knows anything either..." – Fiona said.
"What do you think, Jacob? We will follow your decision" – Emma said.
It seems that everyone wants me to be the one to decide. Have I become their leader and I didn't realize it?
