Being a leader is a very big responsibility because your decisions can positively or negatively affect your followers, however, this time it was clear that it was what we should do, otherwise, if we didn't, we would all die here today.
"I think we should listen to what he says. Anyway we have no idea where Miss Peregrine is" – I said.
"And what if it's a trap?" - asked Millard.
"We will be very attentive, besides, walking around the ship blindly is not too safe either" – I said.
"That's right, we can start by listening to this disgusting wight. At least we will have a place to start looking" – Olive agreed.
"It's fine, I support the decision, let's go" – Bronwyn nodded.
After deciding on our next step, we killed the wight and went straight to the deck of the ship. Many might ask: Why kill the wight? The answer is simple, if we let him free, he will call his friends and alert all the wights on the ship of our presence here, besides, just because he is wight he already deserves to die, because to get to that form he has had to devour numerous peculiars, only that crime already deserves death. That is why I do not feel any remorse when killing such an evil and cruel creature.
The wights and the hollows are the natural enemies of the peculiars and we have to kill them if we have the opportunity, otherwise, in the future those wight could kill peculiars, children who are not to blame for anything and who live their lives in peace; that's why it's better to kill them.
They all seemed to be of the same opinion as I was, because no one said anything about it while we were killing the wight, in fact, they even seemed satisfied that we had done it. Although I could tell that Claire and the twins were a little scared and no wonder, seeing a living creature die must be too hard for them, but we can't afford to leave the wight alive; they don't deserve a second chance.
We walked slowly to the deck but... How did we know where it was? We came from there, we simply had to retrace our steps and in a few minutes, we were already on the deck.
"Walk slowly, we don't know if there might be wights patrolling the area" – I whispered.
I said it very quietly, low enough that no one but us could hear my words.
We all nodded and continued walking towards the place that the wight indicated to us, but surprisingly, we did not find any other wight on the way, something quite strange since we had already reached the place where the wight told us and there was no one guarding the entrance.
"There's no one guarding the entrance, I think that wight hasn't lie" – Enoch said.
"Or it can be a trap and a bunch of wights can be inside waiting for us to come in to kill us," Horace said.
Claire and the twins clung to my clothes as they trembled.
"If that is true, then I will enter first, because as I told you before, I am immune to bullets and they will not be able to kill me. In the meantime, you hide, if there is no danger, I will call you, if there is... run out and hide" – I said.
Since I'm immune to bullets, even if there's a bunch of wights on the other side of the door waiting for us to enter to shoot and kill us... Nothing will happen to me and I will be able to shoot down all the wights by myself while they shoot and I will take advantage of their confusion to kill them all too, so there is no danger for me.
"I don't like that idea very much..." – Bronwyn said.
All the girls nodded, after all, none of them wanted to lose their lover (although Olive wasn't yet his girlfriend).
"Girls, believe in me, I'll be fine. Besides, I'm the only one who can do it" – I said confidently.
"Let him do it, if he says so, I believe him" – Enoch said.
All the girls looked at Enoch with a murderous look, which caused him to recoil and tremble slightly.
"Girls, we must believe in Jacob; if he says he can, then I believe in him" - Millard said.
"Me too, we must trust him" – Hugh said.
"That's right, if he's sure about it, then I'll respect his decision" - Horace nodded.
"Girls, hide and believe in me, I will be fine; I promise you" – I said with a smile.
Reluctantly, they all agreed and immediately everyone hid to the side.
A little nervous and not knowing what was waiting for me on the other side, I slowly opened the door and as soon as I opened it I could see that it was a small room with only a small shelf full of books and a table with a chair quite simple and on top of the table, there were two cages, which contained Miss Peregrine and Miss Avocet.
"Miss Peregrine, Miss Avocet!" – I said in amazement.
Quickly, I grabbed both cages.
"Guys, you can come in, there's no danger" – I said.
But the response I got wasn't what I expected.
"You have heard, enter; there is nothing to fear" – said the voice.
Everyone entered slowly.
"I'm sorry, Jacob, he caught us off guard" – Emma said.
After everyone entered, Claire and the twins hid behind me, while Golan entered with a gun in his hand.
"Golan!" – I exclaimed angrily.
"Hello again, Jacob; we see each other again" – Golan said with a smile.
"There is no one on this planet that I hate to see more than you" – I said angrily.
"Do you still hold a grudge against me for what happened before? Come on, in the end none of your friends were hurt; it all went well and you even killed the hollow, it's a happy ending" – said Golan.
Everyone except Emma looked at me in surprise.
"Did you face a hollow and kill it?" - asked Millard in amazement.
By the way, Millard was dressed.
"Emma helped me" – I nodded.
"But he did 90% of the work, I just helped give him the coup de grace" - Emma said.
"Awesome!" – Claire said.
The twins were also impressed, joyful, and proud of their lover's strength.
In fact, Olive, Bronwyn, and Fiona were also impressed and proud of Jacob's strength.
"Yes, how moving, everyone gathered here, trying to rescue their Ymbryne" - Golan said.
"To begin with, you should never have taken our Ymbryne" – I said trying to stay calm.
"Maybe, but your Ymbryne was necessary to our plan, so I'm afraid I have no choice but to take her away; both" – Golan said.
Then, he looked at the cages in my hands and pointed his gun at Horace, who was the closest.
"Now give me both cages if you don't want me to kill your little friend, and please don't try to play the hero, this is not a video game, Jacob; if you die here, it's the end" – Golan said.
He was pointing his gun at Horace, a member of my family, and while I could have goaded him to shoot and put a shield on him to protect Horace, I had no idea if Golan could shoot multiple times and hit another one by chance, so for the time being, I'd give him the cages and think about what to do later.
Slowly, I approached Golan and gave him both cages.
"That's it, no tricks" – Golan said.
Then, he grabbed both cages in a bad way and smiled.
"Well, I would very much like to continue chatting with you, but I have to go; my colleagues are waiting for me" – said Golan.
"It's impossible, we've killed all the wights on this ship" – Emma said.
She didn't really know it, but she was doing it to try to scare Golan.
"True, you killed all those I brought, a commendable feat, but I didn't said that they were here; in this ship" – said Golan.
Then, he started walking, went out the door and closed it, probably thinking that we would not be able to get out of here.
"What do we do now? That crazy wight has taken Miss Peregrine and Miss Avocet; We have to save them!" – Hugh exclaimed.
"You stay here, I'll go after him, the bullets don't affect me and now that we know there's no more wights on the ship... we are safe" – I said.
"I'm going with you, you'll need someone to give you support in case it's needed and I don't take 'no' for an answer!" – Emma said.
There is no time to argue.
"Ok! But the rest of you will stay here! We can't all go!" – I said.
None of them complained, though the girls still seemed worried about Jacob.
"Okay, in the meantime we'll try to figure out how to pilot this boat" - said Olive.
"Ok, come on Emma!" – I said.
"Okay!" - she nodded.
The door was closed and even with my strength it was impossible to open it, but a punch from the incredible Bronwyn was enough to open it and we could leave.
Quickly, we headed in the direction in which Golan left, or rather, we listened.
It was not difficult to find him because he was on the edge of the ship, while behind him was what appeared to be another ship or rather, a submarine.
"I already knew you wouldn't give up so easily, Jacob" – Golan smiled.
Then, he looked at Emma and smiled.
"But it's too late!" – he said.
Then, he pointed his gun at Emma and shoot, although luckily, I realized his intentions and I stood in front of Emma so that the bullet would hit me and not her and yes, I could have put a shield on her, but everything happened so quickly that, with my mediocre reflexes, I didn't have time to put a shield on her.
The bullet hit me, but it bounced off me without even scratching me, an opportunity that Emma took to throw a fireball at Golan that hit his hand squarely. Luckily, the cage where Miss Peregrine was trapped, flew and crashed to the ground, opening immediately, but the cage that contained Miss Avocet flew off to the submarine and picked up by one of the wights who was surely waiting for Golan.
"You bastards! How dare you?!" – Golan said enraged.
It was the first time I had seen Golan so angry since I met him that day in that consultation.
"It's your end, Golan!" – I said.
Then, I threw a wind blade at him at full speed, which hit Golan, who fell directly into the sea while screaming and cursing, however, his friends did not seem to care in the least that Golan had fallen into the sea and they did not even try to help him, they simply submerged again, taking Miss Avocet with them.
