CHAPTER 14: THE MID-SEM EXAMINATIONS

The free fire gaming club has been fun so far and it was sad when all club activities were put on hold for students to prepare for the mid-sem exams. The exams were a week away and everyone was really busy boning up for the upcoming battle of pens and papers. The twins and I formed a group study and Mike also joined. I realized that Clara always seemed a bit off when Mike was close to us but I guess it was no big deal. Studied was going really well and we also thought each other the topics we were extremely proficient in. the group was a success as at the end of the week, we had managed to cover all of the topics for the exams. The night before the exam, I was feeling a bit hot in my room so I went out to take a walk in the cold night breeze. I was really happy I took this walk as nothing beats the cold night winds. As I was walking, I was startled and shocked out of my boots by a sudden tuck of my hoodie. I almost scream for help as I jumped and turned with a ready fist to see that it was Clara. Turns out she was also walking around the school like I was. She laughed and I almost cried. My heart felt like it was falling out of my body. She was a bit startled by my fist in the beginning though. We walked together and sat on a bench in front of the music room and she asked me something I was not expecting to hear. “The way I played the piano before the music festival when we had found a solution to the music festival’s problems.” I asked what about it and she said that she could tell it was filled with rage and pain. “To be honest yes. It was filled with both of that. I had the gift of singing from my mother and whenever I sing, I just remember all the painful memories so yes it was filled with rage and pain. But now, I love to sing and it’s all thanks to you and your sister so I guess I got to say thanks to the two of you.” She smiled and replied you are welcome so as to not continue the talk about my mother. She also asked if I had a girlfriend and I laughed. Nope I’m single. I said with the laughter still in my tone. For some reason she smiled and stood saying good bye. I knew where all this was headed but I was not going to rush it. She hurried away to her hostel and as I sat on the bench watching her silhouette disappear into the shadows of the night. To be honest I had a big crush on her and I wont lie to myself about it but I guess time will tell. I walked back to my hostel and went straight to bed. The mid-sem examination began and per what I was seeing so far, the exams were too easy. I its because we had covered all the topics and I was thankful to God for such a god study group. During the mid-sem exams, a guy was caught cheating on the chemistry paper. I knew him, he was a very big jerk and was also a member of the school’s soccer team. His soccer skills were top notch but his attitude to his teammates was really horrible. He was given two months suspension immediately he was busted and honestly to me I would say he got what he deserved. Yeah, I’m being a bit cold about his suspension but people need to understand that they will not move forward in life by cheating always. The exam ended and I was really confident in myself. Club activities finally resumed and I was back to the world of gaming again. It felt so good to be back. A week felt like ages and that is not how I feel. Most of the gamers in the school, not just the free fire gamers felt the same way. The exam results were released a week later and I was top of the class. Followed by Crystal, Clara and Mike. We were all happy about our results and the results were also forwarded to our families. I was really happy I would not have to tell my dad about the exams personally and breathed a sigh of relief.
