Naruto: The Mist Within

From the lake, water bullets suddenly erupted, hissing through the air with lethal speed.

Aoi reacted on instinct, hurling kunai with explosive tags toward the source of the attack while dodging at the last second. Behind him, the ground trembled as the water spheres struck with violent impact.

He quickly retreated, his eyes locked onto the still surface of the lake.

Then, through the haze caused by the explosions, a figure slowly emerged from the water, its body wrapped in water, sunlight dancing on damp skin.

His gaze was cold, his face expressionless as he casually swept his wet hair back with one hand.

I was expecting some competitors to turn on each other... but i didn't think Hiroshi would make the first move.

Despite the initial attack, Hiroshi didn't advance.

Instead, he studied Aoi for a moment, his expression bored, before letting out a slow sigh.

"What a shame... I only caught a small fish."

He waved a hand dismissively, as if shooing away an annoying insect.

Aoi stood motionless for a few seconds, uncertain of what to do.

His instincts screamed at him not to lower his guard—but also not to provoke an unnecessary fight.

With measured caution, he took a few steps back, never letting Hiroshi out of his sight.

As soon as he judged himself to be at a safe distance, he turned and walked swiftly into the forest.

But he didn't get the chance to relax.

A thick mist spread suddenly among the trees, enveloping him completely.

The illusion unraveled into nothingness, dissipating like smoke in the wind.

Before her, Ren's figure materialized.

The tension in Jun'ko's shoulders eased slightly. Instinctively, she lowered her guard.

"You were close, you know?" she said, stepping forward with a half-smile. "A little more and I would've actually hit you."

Ren looked at her with his usual composed demeanor, his lips curving slightly.

"Don't worry. I know the dangers of the forest well. You were cautious, just like—"

Jun'ko threw a kunai without hesitation.

Ren reacted instinctively, shifting just in time. The kunai grazed his cheek before embedding itself with a dull thunk into the tree behind him.

Ren's eyes narrowed as his pulse quickened.

Jun'ko remained still, her cold gaze locked onto him.

Ren would never say I was cautious.

Her hands moved swiftly, forming a precise sequence of hand seals.

The mist rose instantly, swallowing them both in a dense, opaque shroud. The world vanished into a milky white void.

A low, controlled sound, devoid of fear.

Beneath the veil of mist, the eyes of the false Ren gleamed with pure curiosity.
