Chapter 250: The Storm Dynasty
"You've heard of me?" Lin Langtian raised an eyebrow at Su Rou, who was looking up at him in awe.
Feeling slightly shy under Lin Langtian's gaze, Su Rou nodded timidly. "Yes, not from the ancient battlefield, though. I'd heard your name back in the Great Qing Dynasty, where my brother and I live. Your victory against the powerful Ling Family caused quite a stir there. Even though you were young, Brother Lin, you managed to completely overthrow them."
At this, Su Kui nodded in understanding, bowing to Lin Langtian. "So, you're the Lin Langtian of the Great Yan Dynasty."
Lin Langtian gave a slight nod. Years ago, he'd clashed with the Ling Family from the Great Qing Dynasty, and while the matter had been quickly resolved, news of the event had clearly spread beyond his own dynasty. Yet he wasn't particularly interested in this memory. Instead, his gaze lingered on the young girl before him.
As the campfire's soft glow lit his face, Lin Langtian watched Su Rou in silence. She seemed innocent and timid, but he sensed an unusual, formidable power hidden within her, likely stemming from a treasured spirit seal. Lin Langtian had no intention of taking her treasure by force—he had enough resources and advantages himself.
Glancing once more at the girl, who was happily eating her roast, he thought to himself, Although the spirit seal is powerful, she's far too gentle for it. Still, with her talent, she could grow to be as formidable as others like Qingzhu or Qingtan. She's worth keeping an eye on.
"Thank you, Brother Lin Langtian," Su Rou said, finishing her food and wiping her mouth before flashing him a sweet smile. Her eyes then darted toward her older brother with a hesitant, anxious look.
Seeing her expression, Su Kui let out a resigned sigh and began to explain, "Honestly, Brother Lin, we've been fleeing from a major dynasty. The situation isn't too complicated. We accidentally stumbled upon an ancient area, hoping to find a legacy treasure. We didn't get much out of it, but Su Rou happened to trigger a seal that let an ancient power enter her body."
Lin Langtian, already aware of their situation, simply nodded, showing no sign of avarice or surprise. This eased Su Kui's nerves, and he continued.
"This power within Su Rou is vast and mysterious. While it's beyond our understanding, with time, we believe she'll gradually adapt to it. But soon after she gained this power, some powerful people took notice. That's why we've been running. Tonight, we're hiding here because we've been pursued, not because we wish you harm," Su Kui added with a worried smile.
"We'll be leaving as soon as the horde clears, and we don't want to bring you any trouble," he said cautiously.
Lin Langtian gave a faint smile and was about to respond when he felt a sudden shift in the air. "It's too late. Trouble has already found you," he said calmly.
Jinwu instantly went on alert, his sharp eyes scanning the forest with a fierce glint.
"Su Kui, we've hunted you long enough. Hand it over, now!" a cold voice echoed through the mountain, and moments later, five figures appeared, led by a dark-robed man with a cold expression. He gave Su Kui a sinister grin before noticing Lin Langtian and Jinwu. Though slightly surprised, he quickly dismissed them, certain that none would dare interfere with the actions of a powerful dynasty.
"Yan Mo! That power rightfully belongs to my sister. You don't have to take it by force!" Su Kui shouted angrily, his face taut as he braced himself for a fight.
Beside him, Su Rou and the woman in red looked terrified, Su Rou's large eyes filling with tears.
Yan Mo's face twisted into a sinister smile. "If you won't give it up willingly, then die!" he sneered as he launched himself at Su Kui, his fierce attack aimed directly at him.
Seeing Yan Mo's merciless assault, Su Kui shoved Su Rou aside and channeled his own energy, meeting the attack head-on.
Boom!
Energy erupted from the clash, blasting the ground and sending nearby leaves into the air, forcing Su Rou and her friend Liu Ya to stumble back. When the dust settled, Su Kui staggered, his face pale, blood seeping from his mouth. Clearly, he was gravely injured.
Without missing a beat, Yan Mo's killing intent sharpened as he prepared to strike again, a sword of energy forming at his fingertips, aimed straight at Su Kui's throat.
Just as the energy sword was about to land, a fierce shockwave cut through the air from nearby. Like a bullet, it struck Yan Mo's hand.
Bang!
The impact was enough to knock Yan Mo off his feet, sending him crashing backward through several trees before he managed to right himself. Gasping and pale, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Who are you to interfere with the affairs of the Storm Dynasty?!" Yan Mo demanded, eyeing Lin Langtian, whose unassuming stance suddenly seemed menacing. The attack had carried such force that for a moment, Yan Mo had felt as though he were teetering between life and death.
Su Kui, Su Rou, and Liu Ya watched Lin Langtian in shock. They were unaware of the reputation he'd earned in the ancient battlefield and still saw him as the same talented youth from the low-ranked Yan Dynasty.
"Storm Dynasty… never heard of it."
Lin Langtian's face remained calm, the firelight casting shadows that highlighted his faintly contemptuous expression.
