"Yondu?" Alan frowned. "What did he say?"
In Alan's mind, Yondu shouldn't be in any real danger at this point. After all, they hadn't even encountered Quill's father yet. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Yondu only sacrifices himself during the battle between Quill and his biological father. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any major danger.
Quill played the distress signal he received. First, there was a burst of intense fighting sounds, followed by heavy breathing and Yondu's voice.
The message was contained just only one word — "Run!"
Why would Yondu tell Quill to run? Wasn't this supposed to be a distress signal?
Alan pondered, confused, while Quill became even more despondent. Though Yondu was a notorious Ravager, he was also the one who raised Quill and taught him how to survive in the universe. To Quill, Yondu had long since become a father figure.
Alan comforted him, "Don't worry. We'll go back and check it out."
Without delay, Alan quickly notified everyone and prepared to depart. The massive ship shot through space like a sword, racing into the depths of the universe. Quill was frantic, and based on the final coordinates of the distress signal, Yondu had disappeared somewhere within the Nine Realms, not too far away — good news for the group.
Quill activated the space jump, and the ship accelerated faster and faster. Everything around them seemed to be pulled away, and then the space in front of them distorted as the ship shot into it.
Accompanied by a shockwave, they arrived at the last coordinates where Yondu had disappeared. Upon seeing the floating wreckage of the Ravager ship and its damaged exterior in the vacuum, everyone was stunned.
What kind of destructive force could have reduced the massive Ravager ship to this state?
The bodies floating in space were numerous, all frozen stiff.
Quill nearly collapsed as he looked out, seeing the Ravagers who had once stood by his side now lifeless. He couldn't believe that something could have defeated so many Ravagers, especially with Yondu among them.
Alan was also shocked, his eyes wide. Such large-scale carnage made him think of only one person — Thanos. But Thanos always had a rule when it came to killing: take half, leave half. Yet, there were no survivors among the Ravagers here; they had all been killed.
Alan was unsure of his own judgment, so he donned the Emperor Armor and flew out. Quill followed closely behind, as he was the one most concerned about Yondu.
The two of them arrived at the floating wreckage of the Ravager ship. The torn hull looked like a giant mouth, and the attackers seemed to possess incredibly violent strength. Quill crouched on the ground, frantically inspecting the bodies. He wanted to know if Yondu was among them.
Meanwhile, Alan circled the outer perimeter of the ship, investigating. He discovered that many of the dead Ravagers had been exposed to the vacuum environment after the ship's hull had been torn apart. This indicated that the attackers had launched a surprise attack from the outside, damaging the ship before the Ravagers even had a chance to react.
This had been a well-prepared ambush.
