Flee As The Boy Once Did...

Rhysara recoiled backward, falling to her knees and crawling away from the first tier Paladin.

"How..."

"How did I correct your memories...?"

She nodded, as tears fell from her face.

"I only undid the mask that Eternity had donned the day that the Aries clan sent you to slay the boy..."

"I didn't want to do it..."

"A kingdom does what is in its best interests... You would have been decimated you had you denied the orders of The Grand Paladin... Zen does not fool around with the twelve kingdoms... Nor does he accept the fact that an heir far more suited than him walks the lands of Vallmora..."

"Does he know?"

"He does now..."

Leander gazed through the mountain with his eye of Orion, and at the ashen wasteland that the "Boy" had created with his declaration.

"So it is over then..."

Leander nodded.

Rhysara relaxed and stared into the night sky above her.

"Will you kill me?"

Leander shook his head.

"No, but you will die here..."

Rhysara took the shattered crown off of her head, and set it in the snow next to her.

"You will flee into the forest..."

Rhysara shook her head.

"But you just said-"

"I was correct... Rhysara of House Frostfang dies in the barren wastelands of the North... But Rhy of House Orion will flee into The Dark Forest... And will have the chance to survive the same trials that The Queen of Frostfang had once put Chase of House Tartarus through..."

She thought for a long moment.

"You will not harm my people?"

Leander's gaze grew grim...

"I will not... But I do not know of the wrath that drives King Rider... I do not know what you have done to him in order to anger him to the degree of waging war..."

"It was not me... He said that our existence in the lands North of his were an offense of the greatest degree."

"So he is blinded by greed?"

She shrugged.

"I do not know..."

"Damnit all..."

"My people?"

"Are as good as dead... Although there lies a wildcard within The Frozen Forest, who carries morals above his own life..."

"Chase..."

Leander nodded.

"He will not stand for injustice..."

"So the boy I had once tried to kill will be the savior of my people..."

"Not all of them... But maybe a select few..."

Leander took a step toward where the main battle had once taken place.

"Wait!"

Leander turned his head, and smiled.

"Rhysara of House Frostfang is dead..."

"No... Not that... What about you?"

Leander looked up at the sky with a smile.

"Do you not see them?"

"See what?"

Leander's smile turned to a frown.

"I see... So I am the only one who sees the clocks of time slowly turning to a halt..."

Then he vanished, and appeared in the frontlines of what could only be described as the heart of chaos.

Children and mothers ran screaming, as their fathers tried to defend their homes.

'I see...'

Leander turned toward where a single chariot continued to draw closer to the center of the kingdom, with a single man sitting at its throne.

"Rider... You foolish child..."

Appearing at the king's side, Leander growled.

"This is the act of a war criminal..."

"And yet you stood at my side from the very beginning!"

Rider exclaimed happily, with a stupid grin on his perfect face.

"Then I will not any longer..."

Leander said, throwing his badge of leadership into the blood-stained snow, immediately wiping the smirk off of Rider's face.

After a long pause the king spoke.

"So you have chosen treason..."

"Treason I have..."

Then Leander vanished into the cold air of Frostfang's eternal winter.
