I plopped down on the couch, grabbing the remote to find a good movie that could distract me from the nightmares that haunted my thoughts.

Suddenly the lights flickered, not just one but all the lights that are on. "Weird, Lesley just changed the bulbs into a new ones, maybe these are defective?" I mumbled to myself, glancing up at the ceiling.

Just then, the television emitted a strange noise, flickering on and off. "What now? Don't tell me the television's also malfunctioning?" My annoyance grew as I stood to turn off the TV.

Before I reached for the power button, the TV turned off by itself, the room plunging into darkness as the lights also went out. I forgot to draw open the curtains, which left the house cloaked in darkness. A chill crept through the room as I shivered involuntarily.
