Chapter 31

"This changes things then." I said to Kalgaron while looking at the Demon Luminous and the horde of demons raiding the realm. Soon, the entire realm was covered with blackness, surrounding every corner of the Heavenly Realm until no more exit existed. "What happened to your fight against Vivian?" I asked, looking around to search for her, but I didn't find her at all. No signs of her mana either.

"Well…" Kalgaron explained to me what had transpired ever since the start of the war. He fought against three Rulers and was able to kill two of them. As he was about to kill Luminous, the Ruler of the Sun, he retreated and Vivian appeared. The two fought while me and Luminous were battling against each other. As I broke the chains, the two of them felt my mana. After a few seconds, Luminous was revived as a demon. As soon as the Demon Luminous appeared, the Heavenly King appeared besides Vivian and warned her about the incoming raid from the Demon Realm and she left before Kalgaron could slay her and the King.

"That's what happened." Kalgaron concluded.

As much as I want to deal with Vivian, I have to set that aside first and focus on the opponent in front of us. The Demon Luminous was humongous. He has muscular features, no body fat. His skin is dark red and he has two horns pointing upwards. He has dragonic slit eyes that glow in red, and his mouth is filled with sharp fangs that could kill the Black Dragon. Lastly, he has black wings that look broken and battered, yet it still flaps normally, making him hover in the sky.

I sighed. I came here for vengeance… To kill Vivian and her damn Rulers. So why am I dragged into this war…

"What do you wanna do?" Kalgaron asked, his eyes looking at me in determination.

As much as I want to find Vivian, I won't be able to search for her because of our current situation. If I want to find her and kill her, I'd say let's remove the nuisance that will hinder my revenge, shall we?

"Isn't that obvious?" I smiled and looked at the Demon Army and Luminous. I emitted a strong killing intent, so strong that everyone from both realms stared at me in shock. "Let's slay demons."

Kalgaron turned around and stared down those who were still alive. Both the Temple Heavenly Army and Heavenly Guards stared at the General as he spoke. "My fellow brethren! Let us set aside our differences and team up to protect our realm! We can kill each other later after we eliminate these demons!" He roared and everyone from both sides roared their battle cries. The entire Heavenly Realm, for the first time since Vivian came, has united.

Demon Luminous laughed. "Fools! You dare try to fight against us?" He then roared loud enough for the whole realm to hear. "All demons, hearken to me! Slaughter everyone in this realm and conquer this place!" The demons roared their battle cries as well.

The two realms charged. Shadow against Light. Soon, both realms started killing each other. I don't need to focus on the small insects. My eyes were glued straight to Luminous, who was also staring at me.

"Are you ready, Kalgaron?" I asked.

Kalgaron smiled and he played his staff, pointing it to Luminous. "I am ready to hunt, Ashe."

I summoned my longtime best friend, Serpentine. She appeared beside me. Her huge and gigantic shadowy body floating in the sky. Due to her appearance, people mistakenly thought she was a dragon.

'Are you gonna summon the Four Spirits?' She asked me through telepathy. I forgot to mention this, after my Renewal and gaining the Spirit of Light and Strength, Serpentine gained consciousness and she acts freely as she has her own will. At first, I was wary of her. But after testing her loyalty, she has gained my trust.

I shook my head telepathically. 'No. Not yet. I'm saving those Four Spirits for later just in case.'

Serpentine smiled. 'Smart. Looks like Renewal made you a genius this time.' She mockingly said.

'Enough with the teasing. Let's slay a demon and go for Vivian after this.'

"That serpent creature.. She looks familiar." Demon Luminous said. "Oh forget it! All of you will die today so why should I worry about this." Luminous opened his mouth and a huge blast of flames was breathed out from him. Me and Kalgaron dodged the attack and we both charged straight at Luminous.

He has a huge body, making him easy to target. But I know for a fact that this guy isn't gonna go down easily. So let's observe first.

Huge horde of black swords appeared in the sky behind him. With a flick of his wrist, the swords were hurled towards us. I dodged the gigantic swords that were flying against me by flying around them. After the first wave of attack, I summoned my own swords and hurled them at him at great speed. As the swords made impact to his tough flesh, the swords exploded, causing Luminous to stumble a little.

The sky turned dark. Soon, the sound of thunder echoed in the sky. I pushed my hands down and thousands of purple lightning fell from the clouds I made, electrifying Luminous. Meanwhile, Kalgaron expanded his staff and struck Luminous at his ribs. I kept the thunder on for about two minutes. After two minutes, Luminous roared and his whole body was restored again.

His healing is annoying. But, I'm not done yet.

Two swords appeared from both my hands and I got behind his back. First… Let's deal with his flight. I cut his wings off, making him fall from the sky until he dropped on the ground. I landed on his forehead and I cut his horns after. Why did I cut his horns? Well, his healing comes from his horns. The moment he healed, his horns glowed for a slight moment. Second, his wings. As his horns glowed, his wings grew in size. So now that both his wings and horns are gone, his healing has weakened.

"Get off me you insect!" Luminous swatted me away like a fly, but before my back could hit whatever it was going to make impact with, I dashed straight at the demon that was still down to the ground thanks to Kalgaron holding him off. I imbued my fists with magic and unleashed powerful punches at his chest, opening a huge gaping wound until I found his black heart. Demons have a max of seven hearts. Since this guy is a higher ranking demon, he probably has seven hearts that are scattered somewhere.

I summoned a sword and pierced his first heart until it stopped beating. Luminous roared in pain and his body went into shock. I smiled. So even with seven hearts, he could still feel pain. Good. Because he has six hearts remaining and I want to keep hearing my enemy moan in pain.

Luminous broke free from Kalgaron's heavy force. He summoned his sword and swung it in a 180 degrees arc, cutting the tall buildings in half. He focused his target on me and charged straight at me. Despite his size, he was too fast. He swung his sword at me while I parried his attacks with my own sword. Soon, our blades clashed, creating a spark as it made an impact on one another. However, instead of me getting pushed back, he was the one getting pushed back. Thanks to Kalgaron's teachings and my sharpened senses, I am able to beat Luminous in a one on one battle. Combined that with my magic, my strength has increased to a hundred, overpowering the giant demon.

Luminous opened his mouth to release another breath, but my fist met his chin and closed his mouth before it could breath another fire. The fire exploded inside of his mouth, causing him to vomit blood as the flames went through his guts.

"How's the taste of your fire? Disgusting, right?" I mocked and continued swinging my sword at him, opening new wounds to his body that cannot regenerate due to the loss of his horns and wings.

"I will not be defeated!" He tried to push me back, but Kalgaron appeared in front of me and he pounded his face with his staff. The demon fell back and tried to assess the situation, however, I appeared in front of him and punched him in his face. I heard and felt a crack on his skull. He has a concussion.

He fell on his back and Kalgaron pushed his gigantic body on the ground with his force and chains made from his magic, locking the demon in place. Despite having a concussion, Luminous still fought back, pushing us away. He stood up on his ground and he launched a huge wave of magic attack at us, causing us to scramble away from the area of attack.

He is going berserker.

'Is it almost done?' I asked Serpentine.

'Give me more time. I'm almost finished.' She said.

'How much time do you need? This guy is going crazy now.' I asked.

'A minute.' Serpentine said. 'A minute is all I need.'

If it's just a minute, I could entertain him for a bit. I plummeted down to his head, kicking him upon my impact. Luminous stumbled on the ground until he fell on his one knee. I hovered in front of his face, making sure that his eyes were on my level.

"From this point onward, you will be experiencing the most excruciating death that you have ever before in your life has ever felt. Since you're a General and a high ranking demon, I'm sure you are prepared to die." I casually said with a smile on my face.

Luminous looked at me like I was crazy. "You think that bluffing would work on me, a General of the Demon Army?" He tried to roar, but looks like he burned his mouth with his own attack earlier.

I laughed seeing him struggle like a true insect he was. "One minute. I will give you a glimpse of what true pain is." I hissed.

For one minute, the whole realm was filled with Luminous's screams of agony and begging for mercy. I made sure that I took my time and healed him as well before he could die. He isn't allowed to die, no, not without my permission. Can you hear this, Vivian? Soon… This will be you. As I tortured Luminous, his voice was replaced with Vivian's moans of pain. I felt excitement rushing through me, making me smile more when I got to Vivian. Oh! I'm so excited that I can't contain myself! But wait, I can't let him die. I almost let him die. I mean, he wouldn't die because he has six hearts, but I want to make sure he is fully energized and awake to feel what was about to happen to him.

A minute passed and I heard Serpentine's voice in my mind. 'It's done.'

I healed Luminous fully and forced him to wake up, but his eyes lost all its energy and light. He is still alive. But he will wake up when the true pain begins.

"W-What are you doing now…" He asked, struggling to form the sentence.

I gave him the most angelic and innocent smile I could offer to him. "You will find out, General."

Soon, Serpentine wrapped herself around Luminous gigantic body. She slowly squeezed him tight, making him pant for breath. But that was just the start of the pain. While keeping him occupied, Serpentine went inside his body and searched his six hearts. She was able to locate the hearts and put a spell on it that will slowly kill it. However, because of how slow the spell is, the person will experience the most excruciating pain until he dies. But since he has six hearts, Serpentine will slowly kill his heart one by one.

That's right… One by one.

And it begins. His screams were so loud that it reached the whole realm. The demons that were fighting in the war froze as they heard their General's screams, letting their guard down until the angels were able to kill them.

First heart has been destroyed.

Each heart would be destroyed in an hour. Whenever he lost his consciousness, Serpentine would wake him up.

After an hour, his second heart was destroyed.

Another hour of slow torture begins. He lost his consciousness and Serpentine woke him up.

After an hour, his third heart was destroyed.

Another hour of slow torture begins. He lost his consciousness and Serpentine woke him up.

After an hour, his fourth heart was destroyed.

After an hour, his fifth heart.

Last, I told Serpentine to increase the hour to two hours. She did and his agony became longer. As he screams to the top of his lungs, all I could hear was Vivian's scream instead. I smiled as my ears listened to the melodic sound of someone's agony.

After two hours of slow torture, finally, his sixth heart was destroyed.

The whole realm went silent.

One of their generals has died.
