"If he's really here to surrender, then there must be a scheme behind it."
Borsalino thought for a moment. He couldn't imagine Gol D. Roger being foolish enough to turn himself in, so there had to be some deeper motive behind this.
"Do you even need to say that?"
Jon rolled his eyes at Borsalino. That much was obvious to everyone.
But he knew more than most.
He already understood Roger's true motive. That's why he was thinking about how to prevent it from happening—because if he could, maybe the Great Pirate Era would never begin.
No one knew exactly where Roger had come from.
He was riding a single wooden plank, yet moving at incredible speed.
Under the watchful gazes of Jon and the assembled Marine soldiers, he swiftly arrived at the harbor.
Perhaps it was his legendary reputation, or perhaps it was simply the shock of seeing him here, but—
Despite more than a thousand Marines present at the port, not a single one opened fire.
From the moment Roger appeared to the moment he set foot on land, not much time had passed.
The higher-ups of Marine Headquarters had yet to arrive.
The highest-ranking officer present was merely a Rear Admiral.
Seeing Roger walking casually onto Marineford, the Rear Admiral immediately shouted in alarm:
"Gol D. Roger! As a pirate, how dare you set foot in Marineford?!"
Under the intense gazes of the Marines, Roger remained completely unfazed.
He strolled forward at a leisurely pace and spoke in an amused tone:
"Well, I'm already here. Seeing me, shouldn't you attack immediately? What's with all this hesitation?"
"You—"
The Rear Admiral hesitated for a moment.
It wasn't that he didn't want to attack, but Roger's legend was too overwhelming.
Even though they outnumbered him, he found himself unable to give the order.
And if he hesitated, how could he expect the other Marines to act?
Roger maintained his smile, casually glancing around at the Marines.
"So this is Marineford, huh? Never been here before."
He nodded to himself, as if admiring the scenery.
"I must say, this place is truly prosperous. No wonder the Marines chose this as their headquarters. Great location, great environment, and plenty of resources."
"Roger! Don't get cocky! This is Marineford! This is not a place where you can act as you please!"
The Rear Admiral roared in anger.
Roger merely gave him a glance—but didn't seem interested.
He was waiting.
Waiting for the real powerhouses of the Marines to arrive.
Just then—
A playful voice echoed through the port.
"The Pirate King, Roger, huh? This is my first time seeing you in person. You really are different from the usual pirates."
A man in a yellow suit, draped in the Marine "Justice" coat, stepped forward.
It was Borsalino.
His sharp gaze locked onto Roger, filled with curiosity.
Roger looked at him with interest, his eyes flashing as he mused aloud:
"I heard the Marines have some strong rookies these days… You must be that flashy little Light Boy, right?"
"Oh my, to be recognized by the Pirate King himself. What an honor."
Borsalino kept his usual lazy smile—
But the very next second—
A beam of light shot from his fingertip, flying toward Roger at the speed of light!
The laser was unbelievably fast—
But Roger, as if expecting it, simply tilted his head slightly, dodging the attack with ease.
A powerful explosion erupted behind him.
"Tsk, tsk. Kid, trying to sneak attack me? That's a bad habit."
Borsalino chuckled and was about to attack again when—
Someone grabbed his arm.
"Forget it, Borsalino. We can't stop him."
At that moment, Roger's eyes lit up in recognition.
"Oh? A familiar face. And one that gave me quite the headache before."
He grinned.
"The Plant Boy—Josie. It's been a while!"
Jon's face darkened instantly.
Plant Boy?!
What the hell kind of nickname is that?!
This damn old man—if he wasn't good at naming things, he should just stop trying.
Roger paused, then corrected himself:
"Oh, wait—no, not Josie. You're Jon, right? The Marine genius, Lyons Jon?"
Jon didn't answer immediately.
He didn't like Roger's attitude.
Even though he knew Roger had come to surrender, his casual, confident demeanor made Jon, as a Marine, extremely irritated.
He was about to speak, but suddenly—
A powerful gust of wind swept through the area.
In an instant—
Several figures appeared, surrounding Roger.
"Tsk, tsk. Everyone's here, huh?"
Roger grinned even wider.
"Fleet Admiral Kong. Admiral Sengoku. Admiral Zephyr. And my old friend… Garp."
Now—
Roger was truly surrounded by the highest-ranking officers of the Marine Headquarters.
Each of them wore a serious expression.
Fleet Admiral Kong took a step forward, his voice booming in fury:
"Roger! How dare you come here?!"
When Kong first received the report, he had been in complete disbelief.
He had spent years hunting Roger, and now the Pirate King was walking into their base himself?!
Roger laughed heartily.
"There's no place in this world that I wouldn't dare to go!"
Admiral Sengoku stepped forward, his sharp gaze locked onto Roger.
"You came here alone. What's your goal?"
Roger scratched his head.
"You guys are weird. Haven't you been searching for me all year? Now that I've come to you, instead of capturing me, you're wasting time asking questions?"
"Shouldn't you arrest me first and ask later?"
Kong and Sengoku's faces darkened with fury.
It wasn't that they didn't want to capture him immediately—
But fighting Roger here, in Marineford, would cause immense destruction.
There were countless Marines stationed here—many of whom would suffer casualties if a battle broke out.
That's why they were holding back for now.
But Roger's provocative words only made them angrier.
"Roger!"
Garp, standing among them, didn't look as tense as the others.
Instead, he spoke in a more casual tone, almost jokingly:
"So, what? Have you decided to turn over a new leaf and join the Marines?"
At that moment—
Roger clapped his hands together.
The Marines instinctively tensed, expecting an attack—
But instead—
Roger laughed heartily.
"Hahaha! Garp, you really do understand me best."
He smiled widely.
"You're not completely right, but… you're not wrong either."
"I'm not here to fight.
I'm here to surrender."
A dead silence followed.
Even the most battle-hardened officers like Kong, Sengoku, and Zephyr were stunned speechless.
Sengoku was the first to recover—
And roared in disbelief:
"Roger, have you gone mad?!"
Roger shrugged, grinning mischievously.
"I'm not crazy. I'm really here to surrender."
He held out his wrists.
"Go on. Cuff me. I won't resist."
The Marine high command exchanged confused glances.
At that moment—
Every single Marine present was in complete shock.
