Chapter 12 Dillon Grendel, Expulsion

It was soon evening, so Timothy returned to one of the penthouses which belonged to the Wolf family, while Dillon and Merlin returned to their hostel at Yale University.

The day's activity had them exhausted. Especially the two times they fought. Thankfully, by the time Dillon returned to the hostel, his roommates were all already fast asleep.

He took his bath and went to sleep. It was soon morning, and he was awakened by the sound of his roommates laughing over something.

Dillon didn't want to feel it was deliberate, but as he sat up on his bed, they stopped laughing and began whispering among themselves.

"Who does he think he is beating up, Moses Lake? Does he know the influence the Lake family has in New York? They can crush him as easily as an ant." One of them said loudly.

"He returned pretty late yesterday. He probably hid out until he was sure it was safe to return to the hostel. Moses will come for him sooner or later." The second commented.

The hostel at Yale University was a spacious one, and it was furnished luxuriously to fit the taste of the wealthy students attending the school.

Each bed had proper space for the individual, yet, Dillon was still awakened by their loud laughter. How annoying.

He got up and pretended not to hear them as he walked into the bathroom. Today was wednesday and wednesdays and thursdays were days when students had the same subjects, which meant everyone in every department would come together to the main hall.

After brushing his teeth, Dillon returned to the room and glanced at the time. 8:47am. The morning lecture usually began around 10am and lasted until 12pm, then the second one would begin at 2pm and last until 4pm and the last one for the day would begin at 6pm and last until 8pm. The day was deemed to be a busy one.

When Dillon took up his phone, one of the two boys who was in the room happened to glance towards his direction.

He recognized the make of the phone immediately and let out a cold snort, "You could've gotten yourself a cheap, decent phone instead of getting a fake of that. I bet it must've cost a lot."

The second boy, who was so engrossed in the game he was playing, glanced towards Dillon upon hearing those words.

He laughed out loud when he saw the phone's brand as well. "I tried to get that phone and was amazed at how high it was. I've saved for three months, and will finally be able to get it next month. Don't worry, Dillon. When I get it, I'll be sure to let you feel what it's like to hold it in your hands."

The two boys soon erupted into a laughing fit. But Dillon, who had gotten used to their mockeries, didn't even glance in their direction.

The door opened immediately, and his third roommate walked in. He was the one who detested Dillon the most.

When he saw his friends laughing, he couldn't help but ask them why. Then they took their time to tell him Dillon had gotten a fake phone of the renowned brand.

This boy's name was Zion Edward and his father was an assemblyman, which made him really proud and egoistic.

"I heard you got the expensive phone. Wow, it's gorgeous. Such an authentic fake." Zion chuckled when he walked up to Dillon and took up the phone.

He turned it over, acutely examining it. Just like his two other friends, he was also saving to buy this phone and knew how expensive it was.

"It must've been so expensive. I bet it must've cost a lot. You should've waited until next month. That way, I would've saved you some money by giving you my old phone, since I'll be getting a new one next month." Zion chuckled and glanced up to see Dillon's dark eyes pinned on him.

It wasn't the first time he was being glared at by Dillon, but every time such happened, he'd hit Dillon a few times to remind him who was stronger.

As the weakling he used to be, Dillon would become a little submissive and look away whenever Zion caught him glaring at him.

However, this time, Dillon didn't take his eyes off as he reached out and snatched his phone away from Zion, then offered him a strict warning, "Don't ever touch my things again."

"Geez, I'm so scared! Did Dillon just threaten you, Zion?" One of the boy's asked in disbelief, walking to where Zion stood.

"Don't be like that, Kent. Otherwise, you're just going to upset Dillon even more." The second boy giggled, finding the situation amusing.

He already knew what was going to happen to Dillon in the end, so he could as well pay attention to this moment and remind Dillon of it when his face was being beaten.

"You're right, Austin. His eyes look like he's about to throw a punch. Be careful, Zion. You wouldn't want to get a black eye before the lecture." Kent giggled.

"Dillon, don't you think you're being unnecessarily rude right now? I was only trying to help you because I heard you got laid off from your part-time job as a delivery man. It must be so hard for you to take out your hard-earned money to get a new phone." Zion half-shouted like he was trying to be helpful.

Dillon glanced at his time again. It was precisely an hour to the lecture. He needed to go early to secure a seat in the front, and he wouldn't be able to do that if he continued his conversation with Zion.

So, with the intention of ending their unpleasant conversation, he said, "I don't need your help."

Then he turned his back to them.

"Hey, you seem a lot more rude now. Didn't they teach you manners at the orphanage you came from?" Zion hissed.

Dillon ignored him and pulled open his wardrobe, but felt a gust of wind on his shoulder. He knew immediately Zion was up to something.

Tilting his head to the side slightly, he caught sight of Zion's leg moving towards his legs and immediately moved out of the way.

Zion had used his entire energy, as he didn't anticipate Dillon would see the hit coming and move out of the way.

It was already too late by the time he saw this, and his leg slammed into the door of Dillon's wardrobe, breaking a bone in the process.

"You son-of-a-bitch!" Zion cursed Dillon painfully as he held on to his foot and fell on Dillon's bed.

Fighting with a fellow student was prohibited and would put his scholarship at risk and since Dillon was avoiding that, he decided to let the wardrobe do the job.

"How could you move out of the way? Do you have any idea how valuable his foot costs!" Kent screamed in shock, rushing to Zion.

Zion was one of the country's football rising stars. He was usually placed in the front line which made him pretty famous.

"What do you mean? He's the one who tried to hit me. How is it my fault he missed and instead broke a bone as a result of hitting my wardrobe." Dillon frowned.

"Let's see who the school believes!" Zion seethed, then beckoned on Kent and Austin to take him to the school clinic.

Just like Dillon expected, the school was soon notified of the accident and the class which was to be held by 10am, got postponed until further notice.

Dillon was called into the office chancellor's office.

The chancellor was in his early fifties. Some of his black hair was already tainted by gray hair as he sat behind his desk in a brown suit.

In the office was Kent and Austin who stood behind Zion and his father– Jethro Edward, the chancellor– Richard Watson, and the lecturer who should've taught the students that afternoon, Harry Julius.

Zion's mother couldn't make it, since she was out of the country.

Dillon slowly found his way to the empty seat meant for him. As he sat down, he noticed the large cast on Zion's leg before taking his eyes off. Serves him right.

"The school prohibits fighting among students. So why is his scholarship yet to be terminated by the school?" Jethro asked, barely sustaining his anger.

Richard glanced at Dillon and then at Zion. He wasn't clueless to everything that had been happening to Dillon, he just chose to be silent since it was of no use defending a student on scholarship.

And because of that, he knew how weak Dillon was, which means the Dillon he knew couldn't do something like this.

"Kent Gibbs, Austin Clarke, are you really sure you witnessed the fight between the students, Dillon Grendel and Zion Edward?" Richard asked them again.

"Why are you asking them again instead of informing the disciplinary committee about this? Do you think my son and his friends would like against a student on scholarship?" Jethro harrumphed.

Zion immediately put on the expression of one that was wronged as he sniffled.

"Mr. Watson, do you really think I would give myself this injury? I'm sure you know how much a broken bone hurts."

"And why would I want to break my leg just to expel him when my career as a rising footballer is soaring?"

Richard could only exhale helplessly and glance towards Dillon. There was no need to question him about his side of the story. He picked up his phone and made a call.

"There was a fight between the students, Dillon Grendel and Zion Edward this morning in hostel 1262, I request that the disciplinary committee take a look into this case." Richard spoke into the phone.

"The disciplinary committee will look into the matter and whatever conclusion they make, the school will act in accordance with it." Richard informed Jethro and Zion, after the call ended.

Zion exhaled in relief and relaxed, directing a smug smile towards Dillon.

"How long will the review take?" Jethro asked.

"Four hours. The students can be in the lecture hall until then." Richard replied, glancing at the four students in the room.

Kent and Austin helped Zion out of the room before Dillon walked out last.

As soon as they were gone, Jethro turned to Harry, who was about to leave.

"What do you think Dillon Grendel deserves?" He questioned.

Harry paused and glanced at him. He only came to the school twice a week, wednesdays and thursdays. Hence, he didn't really know much about the students in the school.

However, he knew something like that was common among boys and if it had happened with the son of someone who held a higher rank than Jethro, Jethro wouldn't have let it become an issue.

This was just to show the school who he was.

"It doesn't matter what I think, Mr. Edward, the school will still abide by whatever conclusion the disciplinary committee comes up with. I beg to take my leave now." Harry said and exited the office.

Meanwhile, most of the disciplinary committee members kept signing off on the expulsion of the student on scholarship.

Not only was this student benefitting from them, he was also causing trouble for a student who paid whatever fees the school imposed on him. He was useless.

When it got to the chairman of the committee, he merely glanced at the expulsion document and went ahead to side with the ones that said the student needed to be expelled without bothering to check the profile of the said student.
