As I walked in, I feigned anxiety by shaking as I closed the door—I needed to look innocent, even though I was.
"Drop the act."
"Huh?"
"We both know you're not anxious."
How did he know
"B-But I am," I said still feigning anxiety.
"Whatever. But I must say, I expected more from Mitas' Opus."
He knows about there?
"What's an opus? Also, what do you mean by Mitas?"
"I don't have time for theses silly games. I saw you flinch when I said Mitas. No matter how good of an actor you are, you're still human."
"…I see."
There was no use denying it so I just accepted that he knew about there.
"Back to what I was saying. I can't believe Nakamura Yuki's son couldn't—"
"How do you know that name?"
That isn't the government register so how does he know it?
I stared intensely at the principal—I was staring so intensely that one would say I was staring into his soul. I was confused at how he knew and the only reaction I knew was the one I was taught.
"I asked a question, so I require a question," I continued, keeping my voice calm. "Don't tell me you're scared of a highschooler."
I kept staring at him with the same intensity. A fact is humans always break under pressure and that I was waiting for—for him to break.
That was why I had provoked him. It was a ploy for him to talk. He shouldn't know about him. Let alone know his real name.
"…red eyes," he mumbled under his breath.
"I said you have his crimson red eyes."
"…" I kept staring, wearing a stoic expression. I was following a certain fact; it states that keeping quiet makes people reveal more than they would like to.
"I was in your father's college. We both went to Harvard; we studied the same major. But apart from that, how dare you talk like that your principal?"
"I see, but I didn't overstep neither did I raise my voice. This school embraces independence and as I student at this school I'm simply following the rules that allow for complete student independence."
"That's where you're wrong, you're expelled."
Despite hearing those words, I couldn't believe it. How could I? I was expelled, or was I?
"…there's a silver lining, right?"
"Where was that intelligence when I need it?"
"Huh?"
"How were you unable to find the secret behind the school?"
"What secret am I supposed to know?"
"That's disappointing especially all I did expecting you to figure it out."
"I'm confused."
This school is already special so I can't really think of what he means by 'secret.' What secret could he be talking about?
"It seems I lose the bet. Now anyway, I will tell you the truth behind Tokyo Metropolitan Elysian High School."
Bet? What kind of bet did he make? Let's forget about that for now and focus on the 'secret' of this school.
"Now as you know, this is a prestigious school but that isn't all, this high school is a clandestine social experiment known as 'The High School Experiment.'"
"…"
"The school's mission is to produce the perfect human. Mass produce it and be able to convert anyone to the perfect human."
I shook on hearing the word, "perfect human." It seemed the school was trying to replicate there.
"Are all the students involved? The students should at least kno—"
"They do. Everyone is aware well except from you."
"Despite all what you said I don't why I was expelled."
"You raped Suzuki, that's why."
"I didn't, there isn't even proof. The cameras will show that I did nothing," I still remained calm because I had an alibi.
"But everyone believes you did."
"How does that relate? Evidence clears all doubt."
"That would only apply in the court of law—which we are not in. Think to society, a person could still be convicted by other people by just their words. Even famous people, especially famous people, will get affected by just minor comments."
"That doesn't even make…"
"It's the way the school operates, think about RP. It stands for reputation points. This school is reputation-oriented, your reputation is given monetary value and when it reaches 0—your time in school ends."
"Don't you mean your time in this school?"
"No expulsion or personal withdrawal from this school results in inability to go to any other educational institution. However, if you pass this experiment you get a million in any currency of your choice, any job desire, diplomatic immunity, political backing and national prestige."
It seems the ball is in his court, but I'll try something else and see if it's enough.
"…Couldn't I leak this info if you expel me?"
"You can't."
"Why is that?"
"It seems you forgot you'd get imprisoned if you do that."
"Oh, is that so?"
It seems the ball truly is in his court. However, because of the fact he hasn't sent me out yet, he isn't going to expel me.
"It seems you can tell what I'm going to say, I'm giving you a second chance."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I couldn't just expel you," he took a sip of a cup of coffee beside him.
On his table was a coffee packet named Top cafe. I hadn't seen that coffee packet before in the mall nor in the convenience store.
"Do staff have special stores?"
"Oh, no. Why'd you ask."
"I've never seen that type of coffee before."
"Oh, on the last Friday of every month I can leave to visit my family. On that day, I go to stock on it."
"I see, so you're allowed to leave for the entire day."
"No only from 7am to 7pm, 12 hours."
So, on the last Friday of the month and only for 12 hours. I need to remove from the school, no one can know about Nakamura Yuki.
That is the most important rule or is that just my training speaking. Either way, I will expel the moment I get a chance.
"I see."
"Now before I forget, there are 9 students that will try to expel you. They will give you a tough time and might even expel you."
"Is that so?"
"Talk about a big ego. Now like I was saying, you lot are known as 'The Ten Assets.'"
Assets? That was what Kagura said last Monday. So she knew about assets, I need to talk to her later.
"I see."
"I'm not going to tell the names of the other assets. I mean because of you I lost a bet."
Back on that bet, huh?
"I see."
"You can leave but remember one thing, your reputation is your lifeline never let your RP reach 0 again if not you'll get expelled."
"I see I will excuse myself."
On leaving the room, I saw Satou Gotou standing outside, he was probably eavesdropping.
As our eyes met, he grinned and waved at me. I nervously waved back, not knowing how to take the gesture.
Why was he here? Maybe he was the one who made the bet and claim his reward.
That explains the eavesdropping, he probably heard about him. I will find that out later the important thing now is to remove the principal from this school.
But there's the issue of the other assets and what Satou might do with the info he heard about me.
I thought I escaped my prison, there. But I entered another failing in this one leads me back to the one I was originally.
This is truly a dilemma.
It seems I underestimated everything about this school, I let my guard down big time. I'm really at a loss, and I need RP, or I'm finished.
The question is, how will I get it? All those are just variables, there is only one thing that is given, and that is I'll definitely survive.
