Chapter 152: The Rockefeller Family
Looking at the layer of dust on the wooden box, it was clear how long it had been since Charlotte last opened it.
Blowing the dust off, Charlotte carefully opened the box.
Inside lay the Holy Realm Judgment, a sword with a golden hilt and a slender blade adorned with gemstones embedded between the hilt and blade. It was an incredibly gorgeous weapon.
Charlotte couldn't even remember how the pirate who previously owned this sword had come into possession of it. The only thing he recalled was that he had been trying to rob the pirate, only for the man to nearly kill him with this very sword.
Charlotte picked up the Holy Realm Judgment and held it in his hand. The sword was exceptionally light, making it ideal for women to wield.
Satisfied, Charlotte placed it alongside a katana of the same level in his collection. Both were Great Grade Swords of the 21 O Wazamono class.
However, Charlotte found it strange that neither sword had any special abilities. If his memory served him right, Kozuki Oden's famous sword, Enma, could absorb Armament Haki. Why didn't these swords possess similar traits?
As Charlotte pondered over his collection, he realized something: while he had amassed plenty of resources, he hadn't had many children to inherit them.
His eldest daughter, Rockefeller Esdeath, was four years old.
His eldest son, Rockefeller Caesar, was only two years old.
His second son, Rockefeller Tesla, was just three months old.
Including his pregnant wives—Elena, Hebrew Nell, and Janice Gillian—he only had three children with three more on the way.
"When will I be able to pass all these resources on to them?" Charlotte thought.
"No!" Charlotte declared resolutely. "I'm not leaving the island this year! I'm staying home to have more children."
Looking at Martha, Jenny, and Alice, Charlotte decided they too would have to work hard.
This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision. The primary reason was the current chaos at sea. With the recent promotions at Navy Headquarters, the rise of major pirate crews, and the vacant throne of the New World's overlord, countless ambitious individuals were making their moves.
It was a time of severe crackdowns by the Navy, especially with Zephyr and Sengoku, who had recently been promoted to admirals. To establish their prestige, they were aggressively targeting pirates.
If Charlotte ventured out to sea, he was certain he'd become a high-profile target.
Young and ranked as the 8th Division Captain of the Rocks Pirates, Charlotte would likely be underestimated as the weakest member of Rocks's crew. This assumption, combined with his relatively low rank, would make him an easy target for aspiring pirates looking to make a name for themselves.
While Charlotte wasn't particularly worried about fending off pirates, he was concerned about the possibility of being targeted by an admiral or even a Buster Call from the Navy. Such a scenario would leave him with no choice but to flee for his life.
Fortunately, Kami Island was located in the center of the New World. If an admiral entered the area, it would undoubtedly alarm other pirates, especially the Golden Lion Shiki, who had taken over the first half of the New World.
Currently, Shiki was consolidating his forces and recruiting soldiers. With the destruction Rocks had brought to the second half of the New World, Shiki had turned to the first half for resources and opportunities.
Charlotte recalled seeing Shiki's crew at the Valley of the Gods—already numbering over 2,000 members. It wasn't a small force, and it was bound to grow as time went on. However, Shiki's ambitions required significant funding, which meant he would inevitably plunder kingdoms and merchant ships, drawing the Navy's attention.
Thus, as long as Charlotte kept a low profile, the Navy would focus on Shiki and leave him alone.
Charlotte's assessment proved correct.
After the Valley of the Gods Incident, Shiki the Golden Lion established the Flying Pirates and began dominating the first half of the New World. His crew frantically attacked merchant ships and kingdoms, demanding exorbitant protection fees. Those who couldn't pay faced destruction.
"Damn it, Shiki!" growled Cyborg Kong, the newly appointed Navy Admiral.
Despite his frustration, Kong refrained from direct action. Instead, Zephyr was tasked with clearing pirates from the Four Seas, while Sengoku guarded the entrance to the Grand Line at Reverse Mountain, preventing new pirates from entering.
Meanwhile, Garp continued his relentless pursuit of Roger in the New World, serving as a diversion to draw the pirates' attention.
A major conflict was brewing on the horizon.

One Year Later – June 1485, Haiyuan Calendar
For an entire year, Charlotte didn't leave Kami Island.
If not for his flag hanging over the island, many might have assumed he had retired.
Meanwhile, the New World was in turmoil, with the Whitebeard Pirates, Golden Lion Pirates, and Roger Pirates stirring up chaos.
Every day brought new headlines:
Roger destroying Navy warships.
Whitebeard defeating challengers with a single punch.
Golden Lion Shiki, now commanding nearly 20,000 pirates, earning the title of Pirate Admiral.
Shiki's forces wreaked havoc across the New World, expanding their influence through widespread plundering. His actions forced the Navy to recall Garp, who was tasked with monitoring him daily.
However, Shiki's Float-Float Fruit gave him unmatched mobility. He could take to the skies at a moment's notice, leaving Garp fuming below.
It was clear: as long as Shiki avoided recklessness, no one could catch him.

Back on Kami Island, Charlotte focused on training in the hills and raising his family.
In the past year, three more children were born, with three others on the way:
Third Son: Robert Rockefeller, born to Elena.
Second Daughter: Rockefeller Schiff, also born to Elena.
Fourth Son: Rockefeller Deidara, born to Hebrew Nell.
Third Daughter: Rockefeller Eve, born to Janice Gillian.
Charlotte was surprised to learn that Elena had given birth to twins. When he asked the ship's doctor about it, he was told that Elena had requested it remain a secret.
While Charlotte wanted to build a family dynasty, he didn't see his wives as mere tools for reproduction. He believed in letting fate decide when they had children.
Thankfully, his "hit rate" was impressive, much to his relief.
With four sons and three daughters, the Rockefeller Family was officially established.
