Chapter 166: Buddha's Light Shines

Chapter 166: Buddha's Light Shines

No one would deliberately say that Barrett is a monster. At most, they would just marvel at Barrett's impressive strength.

"Bring it on!" Charlotte beckoned Barrett with a confident smile.

The two began sparring. Charlotte didn't retaliate seriously, instead choosing to block Barrett's attacks and guide him through the fight. Each of Barrett's strikes was preemptively neutralized, making his attacks ineffective but pushing him to think and adapt.

They fought on the stage for over two hours until Barrett was completely exhausted.

Charlotte knew the best way to train him was through real combat, and this sparring session would undoubtedly accelerate Barrett's growth.

Time flew by, and half a month had passed. Charlotte's ship, Poseidon, was still at sea, slowly making its way back to Kami Island.

As he relaxed on deck, Charlotte skimmed the latest newspaper. His attention was immediately caught by a headline.

"The Beast Pirates: Kaido of the Beasts Attacks the Sengoku Admiral Fleet"

Kaido's bounty: 370 million berries.

King, the commander of the Beast Pirates: 210 million berries.

Queen, the Plague of the Beast Pirates: 190 million berries.

"So, Kaido has finally made his move," Charlotte murmured. "Queen must have been the one who freed him."

He recalled seeing Queen at the Punk Hazard laboratory but had chosen not to pursue him. For some reason, Charlotte felt no hostility toward Kaido.

Perhaps it was due to lingering sentiments from his previous life. In that world, Kaido was often mocked as the "Supernova Collector" or "Teacher Kaido," a source of countless memes and jokes.

Charlotte couldn't help but find him amusing. Besides, Kaido would eventually be instrumental in opening the gates of Wano Country—a step necessary for finding Raftel.

But it wasn't time for Kozuki Oden to die yet. Without him, Roger's journey to Raftel would be impossible.

After Roger's death, Oden's fate would be sealed. As for Momonosuke…

Charlotte's eyes darkened. Would I even deserve the title of a transmigrator if I didn't deal with Momonosuke? No. I'll eliminate him before he's even born.

The thought of Kozuki Toki, the wielder of the Time-Time Fruit, brought a smirk to his face. Her ability was truly extraordinary.

Charlotte's train of thought shifted as he looked around the deck. The ship was bustling with activity, with many beautiful maids tending to various tasks. Despite their presence, Charlotte had refrained from indulging in any personal desires.

However, with the ship's slow transformation and his delayed plans, Charlotte decided it might be time to focus on building his family.

---

The next page of the newspaper brought another headline.

"Rockefeller Pirates' Blood Swordsman Charlotte Attacks World Government's Secret Island"

His bounty had risen to 1.81 billion berries.

Even the bounties of his top commanders had increased significantly.

Charlotte chuckled softly. He wasn't too concerned about the bounty itself—he simply wanted it to be higher than Red Earl's.

Speaking of Red Earl, Charlotte wondered about his whereabouts. It had been a while since there was any news of him. When will he come to challenge me?

Charlotte looked forward to their rematch. Their last duel had been interrupted when his sword broke, leaving him with one of the few regrets in his life. He was determined to set things right.

As news of Kaido's exploits spread across the seas, public opinion turned sharply against the Navy.

"What is the Navy even doing?"

"How can they let another big pirate rise to power?"

Many began to lose faith in the Navy. Though they had been celebrated for taking down Rocks, the rise of new pirate groups in the New World quickly eroded their reputation.

Pirates were now appearing everywhere, each one vying for the throne left vacant by Rocks' death.

Kaido, on the other hand, wasn't having it easy.

As he fled with his two newly recruited crewmates, he encountered Sengoku's fleet head-on.

A massive golden figure loomed before him.

"Great Buddha Shockwave!"

Without hesitation, Sengoku transformed into his golden Buddha form and launched a powerful palm strike.

Kaido, still in his dragon form, was caught off guard. The enormous palm slammed into his face, sending his colossal body reeling.

King barely managed to catch Queen before he slipped out of Kaido's grip and fell into the sea.

"Sengoku?" Kaido muttered, blood dripping from his maw.

"Pirate, get down here!" Sengoku roared, his voice booming as he unleashed another palm strike.

Kaido opened his dragon mouth wide.

"Heat Breath!"

A fiery beam shot out, colliding with Sengoku's palm. For a moment, it seemed like Kaido's attack might hold, but Sengoku's strength overwhelmed it.

The golden palm broke through the flames, striking Kaido directly.

"Gah!" Kaido roared in pain, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"Brother Kaido!" King and Queen shouted, their faces filled with panic.

"Don't worry about me! Just go!" Kaido yelled, his voice filled with urgency.

King hesitated, his wings flapping as he looked at Kaido.

"Why are you still here? Get out of here! I can handle this!" Kaido roared again.

This time, King obeyed. He grabbed Queen and flew away, heading in the opposite direction.

"Do you think you can run?" Sengoku growled, raising his palm again.

"Buddha's Palm Attack!"

A massive handprint hurtled toward King, the sheer force of it paralyzing him mid-flight.

Kaido, seeing this, gritted his teeth and threw his massive body into the path of the attack.

Blood sprayed everywhere as Kaido took the full force of Sengoku's strike. His scales shattered, and his blood stained the sea below.

But Kaido stood his ground, his unyielding will shining through.

Sengoku's face darkened. He hadn't come here for Kaido—his target was Charlotte. Yet here was Kaido, blocking his way.

Golden energy surged around Sengoku as he prepared his ultimate move.

"Since you want to die, then sink to the bottom of the sea!" Sengoku bellowed.

"Buddha's Light Shines Everywhere!"

A massive golden shockwave filled the sky, crashing toward Kaido with unstoppable force.
