The Sky Goddess

When I opened my eyes I could no longer feel the boat rocking underneath me. I sat up too fast and felt a rush of dizziness.

All around me was darkness, a pulsing living darkness.

I felt beside me for Selen and Clay and found them lying next to me, still sound asleep.

"We meet again, Little One," Came a familiar melodious voice. I turned and saw a girl. "Do you remember me?"

"The goddess," I choked out, "Am I dead?"

She laughed softly, the sound like the tinkle of bells. She was paler still, almost semi-translucent. The rainbow in her eyes had dimmed. "Not this time, my dear Lit-An. We are in a limbo place of sorts."

"Are you ill?" I asked though I knew this was a silly question to ask an immortal.

She shook her head slowly.

"Why are you so-"

"Faint?" She replied, "I wax and wane with my people's strength."

"Are the Licnine in trouble?" I asked.
