Damian sat in the back seat of the sleek black car, his fingers gripping his phone as he stared at the blank screen. His jaw was tense, his golden eyes swirling with unspoken emotions. He had seen Tanin's calls come in, one after another, but he hadn't answered a single one. Not because he didn't want to—but because he couldn't.

A heavy sigh came from beside him.

"Lycan," Beta Rowan spoke, breaking the silence. His voice was calm but firm. "You should have at least told High Luna your plans before leaving."

Damian's fingers tightened around his phone, his knuckles turning white. He closed his eyes for a brief moment before exhaling.

"I couldn't," he said, his voice low. "Her condition isn't stable. She's already been through too much, and if I stress her anymore, we might actually lose the baby."
