The chamber was vast, its stone walls stretching high above them, lined with flickering blue torches that cast unnatural shadows. The air was heavy, thick with something Damien couldn't name—not magic, not death, but something older, something alive.

At the far end, the Abyss King stood beside the ancient altar, his silver mask gleaming in the cold firelight. His dark armor blended into the shadows, and though he hadn't moved, his presence pressed against them like a weight, making it difficult to breathe.
