Chapter 39
The Foyer
The foyer was unusually quiet, the usual hum of workers were nowhere to be found. Amira stood at the bottom of the staircase, her pointed heels incessantly clicking against the marble as she looked around with false curiosity.
"Well, well, well. Impressive as always," she muttered to herself, a smirk filling her lips.
Ethel, the house manager, approached cautiously, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. That had become typical of her... "Miss Amira, what exactly are you doing here? Mr. Wellington isn't expecting any visitors."
Amira turned her head slowly, "Oh, I am not here for Aiden. I came to check on Marina. You know, girl-to-girl talk. Besides, we have got a little catching up to do."
Ethel didn't waiver. "Mrs. Wellington is resting. Now is definitely not a good time."
"Resting?" Amira mimicked mockingly. "Isn't that all she does? But no worries, I will wait. I have got enough time."
