Lina Riley did not move her mother's grave to the Cole clan's ancestral cemetery; instead, she placed it on its own plot nearby.
Alison Propere proved to be very diligent. She came here daily to tidy the gravesite and clear the weeds. Out in the elements, the lettering on the headstone would fade or peel; Alison always restored it promptly so that whenever Lina arrived, it still looked as good as new.
After the spring rain, the surface of the headstone felt damp beneath Lina's fingers. She stood there, hand resting on the stone, while Alison remained a step behind her and began to give an update:
"General, you chose this spot well. From here, one can see all of Coleshire, yet there aren't many passersby. Over in the Cole clan's ancestral cemetery, quite a few graves were looted. I went to inspect it myself. Some coffins were simply tossed aside."
Lina frowned. "Has it been taken care of? Is there someone guarding that area now?"
