There was a brief moment of silence as they gazed into each other's eyes. With the height difference, she had to strain her neck while he looked downwards at her so the light above didn't illuminate the entirety of his face, creating this illusion to Shinju that there was evilness in his eyes even though she could barely see the expression on his face.
However, as he tilted his head back up slightly, the fear that was beginning to swallow her was momentarily put to a halt as she got another look at his face.
If it wasn't for his personality, Shinju admittedly might've even had a harmless crush on him because he was a handsome man who could even rival professional models; this aspect actually played a factor in how successful he was with stealing people's girls as its easier to cheat with someone on or above your league than to cheat with someone who you'd never give time of the day if you were single.
But to her and most girls in the world, personality also played a factor in attraction so quickly, that brief moment of admiration disappeared.
"I-in exchange for giving you what you want... which i-is this... I want you t-to stop bullying my boyfriend," she said after mustering up all her courage and pushing back against her own embarrassment.
"This? I'm assuming that 'this' is what I think it is?" Yasuo asked, raising an eyebrow.
She nodded her head and he could see her fingers nervously tapping each other.
Her heart was racing so fast that she was worried it would pop out of her chest. In her mind, she could already envision what was about to happen in a few moments. Her life was going to forever be ruined but at least her boyfriend would be safe. This was a sacrifice she was willing to make.
However, contrary to her expectations, he gave a response that stunned her far more than if he had just blatantly accepted the offer, "Listen, I'm not going to bully your boyfriend. Not anymore so you can just rest assured and... put that hoodie back on."
"..."
"As a matter of fact, I think I'm done. I'm done beating up on those fucking losers," he said while keeping a hint of the original Yasuo's way of speaking to make his words sound more convincing.
"...W-w-why?"
"It's gotten boring," he shrugged. "So... there's nothing for you to worry about. If that's all then..." he pointed to the door, gesturing for her to leave.
Instead of looking at where he was pointing and making her way out, Shinju remained frozen in place for about ten seconds.
Then she shook her head. "No," she muttered. "No." She shook her head a little faster, "This is a trick. I-I-I don't believe you."
'Considering my past, this response is understandable,' Yasuo chuckled internally. If he was in her shoes, he would've also probably felt the same, believing that they were being deceived.
"What benefits does lying to you provide me? You're practically offering your body up to me right now like a prostitute, and if I wanted to, I could take you to my bedroom and taint you from head to toe. So... tell me Shinju, why would I be lying? I'm done. Done with all that nonsense," he said.
She stuttered, "I-I-I..." unable to get her words out, she screamed, "You're lying!"
Realizing that she had just raised her voice inside a criminal's home where only the two of them were present, her eyes began quivering. 'What did I just do?!' she panicked.
'Look how terrified you are of me and yet, you're in my home alone. Just how much do you love this boyfriend of yours?' Yasuo chuckled as he walked forward.
Flinching, Shinju prepared herself. 'I knew it. I knew he was lying. Breathe. Breathe. It's just one time, and then... then he'll leave us alone.'
Just the idea of being disloyal to her adorable boyfriend who she had known since they were children sent chills up her body, feeling like insects were crawling on her skin, but she had to persevere for their sake.
However, all of the thinking she was doing was for naught as Yasuo walked past her, picked up her hoodie, and handed it back to her.
"Put it on," he said.
Her face showed everything going on in her mind, the complete opposite of a poker face.
"I said what I said. Put it back on and leave my home unless you want me to change my mind," he said before licking his lips and purposely scanning her up and down as a way to warn her that he meant it.
Truthfully, even if she stayed, he wasn't going to touch any inch of her body. He was just bluffing and was trying to get her to leave.
Just because he was in the body of a bully didn't mean that he had to be one.
Unless the system demanded it. Then that would be a different story, however, he didn't know if that was the case yet so he'd rather not do something that he was going to regret.
As she put an arm through the hoodie, she asked, still confused and doubtful of his promise, "R-really? You're not going to b-bully my boyfriend anymore?"
Shaking his head, he gestured with his hand for her to hurry up and leave.
Putting the rest of the hoodie on, she began to walk to the door but would occasionally peek back as if she was anticipating Yasuo to stop her and tell her that everything was one cruel joke.
Even as she was on the other side of the door and heard it being locked, she still looked confused and was prepared to be called back into the penthouse in exchange for her boyfriend's freedom from the monster that was Otsuka Yasuo.
Doubt continued lingering in her mind until the last second when she stepped outside of the building.
"Maybe... maybe he was telling the truth," she uttered.
Then at the realization that meant her boyfriend wasn't going to be bullied anymore, a smile grew on her face and she began skipping along the sidewalk towards the bus stop.
"Look at her skipping," Yasuo laughed as he watched her from his balcony.
Heading back indoors, he rolled his eyes at the original Yasuo. The entire reason why he liked bullying people wasn't even the bullying itself. It was the feeling of robbing and destroying the pure link in people's relationships. That sensation of feeling like a villainous victor granted him more ecstasy than sex itself.
There was a mental trophy case that existed in his mind palace, and his goal had been to fill up all of the shelves with each victim he bedded.
Now that he was alone, he could finally check out what was different in his system.
He assumed automatically that whatever the "register" thingy was, it had something to do with the relationship page.
Opening it up, there indeed was a change to it—
[Name: Nakatani Shinju] [Rank: F+] [Love: -20%]
[Name: N/A] [Rank: N/A] [Love: N/A]
[Name: N/A] [Rank: N/A] [Love: N/A]
One of the three boxes had been filled up.
"F+ rank? That's pretty low," he commented, wondering how the rank was determined. Clicking on Shinju's box, as he thought, it expanded, covering up the entire red screen.
[Name: Nakatani Shinju] [Rank: F+] [Love: -20%]
[Age: 17] [Birthday: Aug. 17th] [Height: 5'3"]
[Hobbies: Knitting, Dancing, Swimming] [S/O: Koyama Hitoshi]
[Fun Fact: When she was 9 years old, she fell into a hole while searching for insects in the forest. After screaming for an hour for help, no one came to rescue her. Just when she was starting to get tired and was about to give up, Hitoshi found her and with all of his strength, pulled her out by having her grab a vine that he used as a rope.]
[Fav Position: Doggystyle] [Experience: Virgin] [Kink: Spit Swap, Dog Roleplay]
"What a freaky character page," Yasuo chuckled once he got to the bottom of her page. "But if she's a virgin then how does the system know her favorite position or her kinks?"
Either she already fantasized about those kinks and knew her favorite position with no experience or the system was providing him with information that didn't exist now but would exist in the future.
Considering that he had been placed in this world at a time when the original novel hadn't even started yet, that latter part didn't seem all too crazy.
"Is this system meant to be a freakier version of a dating sim?" he pondered; if that was the case then the way to increase his life seemed obvious to him now.
* * *
The next day, with less than four days worth of life remaining, Yasuo got dressed up for school but made sure not to button up his shirt all the way or wear his necktie properly as this was the way the original Yasuo would wear the uniform.
After grabbing his back, he hopped into his black sports car.
He needed to be eighteen to have a driver's license but because of his father's influence over the actual police, this requirement was more of a suggestion for him.
What were they going to do? Arrest him? That would spell not only their firing but potentially the demise of their entire family.
Yasuo was basically untouchable by the law in the city as long as he didn't commit something too serious like murder.
On the school campus with his group of "friends" who were asking him why he was so busy with the past weekend that he couldn't hang out with them, he was distracted and was looking where he was walking so he accidentally bumped into someone.
As if the universe was playing a joke on him, the "someone" was Koyama Hitoshi, Shinju's boyfriend.
Hitoshi had also been distracted and was running down the hall so he didn't see Yasuo in his path; if he had, he would've avoided being noticed by any means, let alone bumping into him.
Due to their size difference, Histoshi fell to the floor.
'Oh no!' he screamed in his mind.
Was he going to die today?
Out of everyone, why did he have to bump into the main character of his nightmares the past week?
Every day, he contemplated not coming to school because of this very man but knew that if he didn't, it would only spell worse punishment for him.
Immediately, he began to shiver. 'That's right! I brought money! What if I give it to him now? Maybe he won't beat me up as hard.'
In a frantic movement to save his neck, he reached into his pockets and pulled out a stack of cash, lifting it towards Yasuo while bowing his head.
'What is he doing? Did Shinju not tell him what I told her yesterday?' he wondered. But then he nodded as he understood why she wouldn't tell him. If she did, that would imply that she had met him over the weekends and regardless of what happened or what didn't happen, that would only result in their relationship weakening.
About to extend my arm forward like an olive branch and offer him a hand to help him get off the ground like a good Samaritan, a voice behind him yelled, "I knew it! G-g-get away from him!"
