The massive Tentacruel looked up at the sky, where dark thunderclouds loomed ominously. A tremendous pressure radiated from above, making it feel as if a devastating attack could be unleashed at any moment. It didn't dare to move, fearing the wrath that might descend upon it.
The surge of power within the storm was overwhelming—divine, even. The enormous Tentacruel had never encountered gods before, but in this moment, it felt as though it was facing one. It regretted its actions, fearing that it had angered the heavens. The storm, though not yet striking, seemed to serve as a warning. Any further defiance, and punishment would surely follow.
On the pier, Pikachu struggled to control the lightning within the thunderclouds, attempting to form a bolt to strike down. However, it lacked the mastery to fully wield this power. The enormous wave was closing in, and if Pikachu couldn't act in time, Ash and his friends would be swallowed by the raging waters.
Ash hadn't anticipated this problem—he had forgotten that the summoning attack was passive, meaning Pikachu couldn't control it at will. The massive wave would not be stopped by lightning alone.
"Everyone, command your Pokémon to counter the wave!" shouted an Alliance staff member, snapping everyone into action. Trainers rushed to issue commands, ordering their Pokémon to use various moves to weaken the wave's impact as much as possible.
Attacks of all kinds clashed against the incoming surge—Water Guns, Bubble Beams, and other countermeasures were unleashed. The impact broke apart sections of the wave, but much of it still rushed forward, slamming toward the pier with terrifying force.
Ash's Pokémon fought valiantly. Among them, Charmeleon stood out, its tail flame burning fiercer than ever, the golden hue becoming more intense. Inspired by Pikachu's struggle, it poured all its strength into the battle.
Despite their best efforts, they couldn't completely halt the wave. Parts of it crashed against the pier, sending Pokémon flying backward. Some slammed into the protective wall with the sheer force of the impact.
Anticipating this, Alliance staff had stationed Grass-type Pokémon along the protective wall. As soon as the wave hit, they quickly used Vine Whip to pull Trainers and Pokémon to safety.
The sheer force of the waves made the entire protective barrier tremble. Trainers standing on top watched in horror, praying that the wall would hold.
Many Trainers took the opportunity to recall their battered Pokémon, though a few were unable to retrieve those that had been washed away.
After a tense moment, the wave finally began to retreat. The protective wall had held firm, preventing the waters from flooding into the city. Relief spread through the crowd, but it was short-lived.
Their joy faded as they turned their gaze back to the sea. The enormous Tentacruel remained, an ever-present threat. It had the power to summon waves like this endlessly—how many more could they withstand?
Officer Jenny's face was filled with worry. Could they really defeat a creature of this magnitude?
Just as despair threatened to take hold, she noticed something strange. The massive Tentacruel had not moved since summoning the wave. Instead, it remained motionless, staring fearfully at the sky.
She followed its gaze and saw the thunderclouds still lingering above.
"Raikou…" she murmured, puzzled. Why was this storm so terrifying to the giant Tentacruel?
Then she remembered—the A4 battlefront. Though it was far away, she had seen the moment the thunderclouds had formed. A Pokémon had caused it.
"What kind of powerful Trainer could have done this?" she wondered.
The strength of this enormous Tentacruel was undeniable, yet something had managed to instill fear in it. Could it be an Elite Four member? A Champion?
She had received no reports of such a Trainer's arrival, so the mystery remained.
Regardless, this was an opportunity. Seeing the current state of affairs, she gritted her teeth and raised her walkie-talkie.
"All battlefront leaders, lead your teams and counterattack!"
"Counterattack?!" Some Trainers hesitated, surprised by the bold command.
But the leaders of each front responded immediately.
"Yes, ma'am!"
"Everyone, follow me—counterattack!"
With renewed determination, Alliance staff and Trainers charged forward. Water-type Pokémon swam into the ocean, targeting the remaining Tentacool and Tentacruel still lingering in the area.
On the pier, many of the Tentacool and Tentacruel had not been washed back into the sea. These became the new focus of attack.
Charmeleon, unable to battle at sea, turned its attention to those on land. A powerful Flamethrower, tinged with golden fire, burst forth, knocking out several opponents at once.
Meanwhile, in the ocean, Ash's Wartortle fought alongside the Alliance's Dewgong, attacking the Tentacruel horde relentlessly. High above, Pidgeotto and Beedrill swooped down, striking at the enemy forces floating on the surface.
The battle raged on, and slowly, the tide turned in favor of the Trainers. Many Tentacruel fell, unable to withstand the coordinated assault. Some attempted to fight back but were overwhelmed by the sheer number of attacks.
Those that could still battle turned their eyes to their massive leader.
The leader of the Tentacruel horde, a particularly large specimen, roared in frustration.
"Stinger—!" it bellowed at the giant Tentacruel, urging it to act.
If their colossal leader moved, they could still turn the battle around.
Yet, despite the desperate cries of its kind, the enormous Tentacruel remained frozen in place, still staring at the sky, still paralyzed by fear.
