Chapter 50 Anita told her friends

The rest of the day passed in a blur for Anita. Every shadow seemed longer, every footstep echoing louder in the hallways. It was as if the entire school was being slowly enveloped by an unseen force, and she couldn't escape the feeling that something terrible was about to happen.

After her last class, Anita decided to stay behind to look for more clues. Jace was with her, his presence comforting even though they both felt the tension mounting. The hallways were eerily quiet as they moved through the school, the usual after-school chatter replaced by a heavy silence.

As they approached the auditorium, where the school play rehearsals were held, Anita noticed something odd. The door was ajar, but no one was supposed to be inside at this hour. She exchanged a glance with Jace before pushing the door open, her heart pounding.
