Chapter 58: Kael’s Next Move
Kael stood in the shadows, his presence cloaked in a dark aura. The school was bustling with energy, students laughing and gossiping as they passed by, oblivious to the danger among them. Kael’s gaze fixed on Anita’s circle of friends.
“She trusts them completely,” he muttered to himself. “But trust can be a weapon.”
His eyes landed on Claire, who was walking to her locker. A sly smile crossed his lips as he whispered an incantation, a faint wisp of dark energy snaking its way toward her.

Anita noticed Claire acting strangely over the next few days. She seemed distracted, her usual enthusiasm dulled. When Anita asked if everything was okay, Claire brushed her off with a forced smile.
“It’s nothing,” Claire said. “Just... tired, I guess.”
But Anita’s instincts told her otherwise. Ever since merging with the fox bead, she’d learned to trust the subtle shifts in energy around her. And Claire’s energy felt... wrong.
