Aiden's POV
The heavy silence in the room was suffocating.
Artemis stood next to me, clutching Elara in her arms, her face pale with shock.
I could feel her eyes burning into me, demanding answers.
Answers I didn't even have.
Because Hera…
She was supposed to be dead.
I paid her to be dead.
I turned toward the door where she had just walked out, my mind racing.
How was she alive
And more importantly…
Why the hell was she back?
I ran a hand through my hair, trying to steady my breathing.
"Aiden…" Artemis's soft voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
I slowly turned to face her.
Her gray eyes, identical to Hera's, were filled with confusion and… hurt.
"What just happened?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Who is she?"
I swallowed hard, unsure of where to begin.
"She's… Hera," I murmured.
"The woman you were engaged to," Artemis stated, her tone laced with disbelief.
