"Believe it or not, our class will still take first place in this sports festival," Class A's representative, Yawara Chatora, shot back at the provocation from the neighboring class.
"I agree. I think so too," Jiro Kyoka said with a smile.
"Hmph!" The girl from the neighboring class snorted but didn't say anything else.
Meanwhile, Bakugo Katsuki, with his hands in his pockets, walked onto the stage and stood in front of Present Mic. After a moment of silence, he spoke.
"I swear! You all won't be the champions."
As soon as Bakugo finished, the crowd erupted.
"Is everyone in Class A this arrogant?"
"You sludge bastard!"
"How confident is this guy to say something like that?"
"Do they think just because they survived USJ, they're the strongest in U.A.?"
"Damn Class A! This is so annoying!"
Bakugo ignored their comments, keeping his hands in his pockets as he leisurely walked off the stage.
"Now that the pledge is done, let's get started. Every year, a lot of students end up regretting their performance during the Amajiki Festival, and this event is the reason why."
As Midnight swung her whip, a virtual screen appeared behind her, displaying the words: **Obstacle Race**.
"All students from the 11 classes will participate in this race. The course goes around the outside of the stadium, totaling about 4 kilometers. Our school prides itself on freedom, so as long as you stay within the course, any method is allowed. Now, everyone, get ready!" Midnight shouted.
Soon, all the students gathered in front of a large gate. As the three green lights above the gate turned off, Midnight yelled, "Start!"
Almost immediately, everyone rushed forward, trying to squeeze through the gate.
But just as quickly, everyone got stuck in the bottleneck.
At that moment, Todoroki Shoto activated his Quirk, sending a wave of ice forward.
A large portion of the students were frozen in place, while those who avoided the ice started using their Quirks in all sorts of creative ways.
Ezaki Kita was momentarily stunned. He had originally planned to go over their heads, but since Todoroki had cleared a path, there was no need to take a detour.
Not long after exiting the gate, a few students ran up alongside Ezaki, shoulder to shoulder.
"Hey, you're from Class A, right?" one of them asked.
Ezaki glanced at them and replied, "Yeah, what's up?"
"What do you think? We don't have anything against you personally, but blame your classmates for being so arrogant."
"You're right!" The man next to Ezaki Kitazawa chimed in. "Don't take it personally, kid. It's just that you're the only one running alone without your classmates around."
"I'm sure you remember what Midnight-sensei just said, right? U.A. prides itself on freedom. As long as you stay on the track, any means are allowed," another man added.
"Of course I remember. So, after all that talk, are you guys planning to drop out early?" Ezaki Kitazawa said with a smirk.
His words left them stunned for a moment.
"Damn it! Class A really is full of arrogant brats!"
"This guy's attitude is just as bad as that sludge villain's!"
As they started talking over each other, ready to use their Quirks against Ezaki, he suddenly spoke in a low voice.
"Kneel."
The moment the word left his mouth, it was as if it carried some kind of magic. The guys running shoulder-to-shoulder with Ezaki immediately dropped to their knees.
"What's going on?"
"Is this... his Quirk?"
"No, it's not a Quirk. It's pressure. His sheer presence paralyzed us."
"Yeah, yeah! For a moment, the pressure was so intense, it felt hard to breathe."
"Class A... they're terrifying. Even someone we picked at random is this strong."
"Better not mess with them!"
At that moment, the voice of Present Mic boomed over the speakers.
"What's this? The race just started, and a whole row of people are kneeling on the track? Are they praying for victory? Sorry, folks, but that's not gonna work!"
The audience, though confused at first, burst into laughter after Present Mic's explanation.
"Which class are these guys from? They're hilarious!"
"Right? I've never seen students do something this funny before. If praying worked, we wouldn't need competitions. Everyone would just pray instead!"
"Hahaha!"
The stands erupted in laughter.
While the audience might not have understood, the pro heroes watching saw exactly what happened.
"This guy... his growth is insane," Ryukyu muttered, frowning as she watched from her seat.
"What happened? I didn't catch it," her assistant asked curiously.
"It's some kind of pressure. After not seeing him for a while, he's managed to surprise me again," Ryukyu said seriously.
"Is this guy even human?" the assistant added.
"Probably not even a monster compares to him. Let's keep watching. Things are bound to get more interesting," Ryukyu said, a faint smile forming on her lips.
Meanwhile, on the track, the students who had been forced to kneel felt like a herd of wild horses was stampeding through their hearts.
This was completely unfair! What kind of "praying for victory" nonsense was this? It wasn't like they wanted to kneel!
But there was nothing they could do. They brought this on themselves, and now they had to swallow the bitter pill.
