Death By Rabbit

As he left the adventurers' guild, Kenji hailed a carriage and told him to take him right to where he was going to be taking his trial.

He was excited!

Today, he was going to go and become something more and bigger than a famous local chef. He was going to become an adventurer!

Kenii was so excited that he wished that the carriage would arrive in no more than ten seconds.

As he sat at the back of the carriage awaiting to arrive, he brought out a red stone from his spacial ring.

The stone was red like fire with occasional glimpse of hot yellow, giving it a warm feel.

" You would never seem to amaze me you little thing," Kenji whispered to the rock, as he played with it, making it dance around his fingers.

He had gotten this red stone from the king's treasury while taking gold into the spacial ring. The king had told him that it wasn't something he needed nor was it important to him, so he had given Kenji the approval to take it.

After staying in the old town for a few more days, he went around to ask for what this stone was, and many told him that it was the beast core of a C rank fire bird, and that it was really precious.

Kenji smiled at them for he knew that the king had just called it useless, while the commoners had said that it was incredibly precious. He could easily see the gap between commoners and Noble in this world. It was huge!

Some would even try to buy the forest bird beast core from him, but Kenji would never sell it. He felt like there was more to this rock that meets the eye.

Besides.

He loved playing with it, and felt like it was the only toy he could make his fingers fidget with from time to time.

Bump!~

" We're here!" The carriage driver announced, getting down to have a look at his wheel which had hit a hard rock.

" Oh great!" Kenji exclaimed, as he jumped out of the carriage in a haste.

As he got down, he took in the amazing breathtaking sight of the green grass and and blue sky, he handed the driver his payment and told him that he could head back to town.

Without any complains, the driver did as Kenji had said and immediately drove back to town.

" Now, let's get picking!" He exclaimed happily as he began to pick all of the lion dandelions that he could find around this field.

After a few minutes of picking, Kenji's face dropped," I haven't even reached half the bag and this job is already so boring!" Kenji exclaimed with a bit of annoyance, as he plucked out another flower from the earth.

Then as he stood up and stretched his arms, he spotted a rabbit hidden in the grass. With a light snicker, he slowly approached it. And when he had reached a satisfiable point, he outstretched his hand into the air, facing his palm to the forehead of the rabbit.

A white holy looking magic circle appeared floating atop his palm, as another one appeared above the little rabbit still munching away on the grass not realizing it's fate.

" Tame!" Kenji said as he closed his eyes and made the magic circle above the rabbit to be imbuded into the small little creature, and began to slowly tame the animal.

And in less than a second, the creature was fully tamed, only listening to the command of a certain someone named Makoto Kenji.

" Now go call out your friends and begin to pluck these lion dandelions and plac them in this sack," Kenji said to the rabbit.

And almost as if it understood him, he ran back and jumped into a burrow in the ground, as it went on to do Kenji's bidding.

It eventually came back with over thirty of his friends, seemingly having won them over, as it commanded they begin picking.

And in just a few minutes, the dandelion field was swarmed with rabbits picking flowers all around.

Kenji sat right under a tree, continuing to fidget with the red stone, as he watched with wonder how the rabbits did his work.

He wished he could take them all, but he couldn't, since it was only possible for him to tame one creature at a time.

He then rest his back on the tree's bark, as he soon fell asleep under the cool breeze of the afternoon sun.

•••••

Rooaarrr!!!

Kenji suddenly jolted up from the ground, as he heard the sound of a beast roaring. He got up clearing his eyes as an alarmed look washed up on his face," what the hell is that?" Kenii exclaimed, as he looked across the field, and was shocked to the core to see a rabbit?!

But it wasn't a regular rabbit. It was over ten feet tall with menancing blood red eyes and huge sharp fangs that seem like they could easily pierce through the hardest of substance.

Kenji gulped down a mouthful of saliva as he understood the current situation.

* This was the mother of these rabbits working for him. The kither of the rabbit he had tamed with a temporary taming contract!!*

" Sh*t!" He exclaimed, as he slowly backed away with sweat beginning to drip from his forehead.

But then as he moved back, he felt something tugging on his trousers, and was shocked to see that it was the little rabbit he had tamed a little while ago.

It was tugging on him to show him that it had completed his work and now the bag was filled with lion dandelions.

Worry broke the already high tension in the air, as Kenji knew the mother rabbit had spotted the little rabbit under his feet.

The mother rabbit raced towards him with blood shot eyes and barred fangs, as the speed she used was much faster than what he expected for a creature her size.

Kenji without looking back turned around and tried to run, only to realize that it was too late, for the mother was so quick that it had appeared right in front of him with anger dripping from its breath.

" Gulp! Hey miss rabbit, i- I didn't mean to turn your kids into slaves like that, they only were trying to h- help me, so I...I allowed them?" Kenji said, hoping that the mother rabbit was able to understand him.

But it didn't seem like she cared as he jumped into the air, and use her suprisingly ferocious claws to slice down on Kenji's head, causing blood to flow out.

She raveaged him!

A mother angry that her child was being made a slave, was now releasing her pent up anger on the very one who had enslaved her kids.

She broke his bones, tore his skin, even going as far as to gourge out one of his eyes! The pain was unbearable.

Like this Kenji was made into a mesh of human meat, as only one last thought crossed his mind.

" I'm sorry,"

He was sorry that he wouldn't be able to go back as he had promised. He was sorry that he had broken most of his promises like this, and he was sorry to himself, for hehad not seen the world, not shown them; his co-workers, that he was not any lesser than them.

His true purpose, even if he hadn't realized it till his dying moment was to get to them, show them his strength and reach higher than them.

He wanted to be noticed again. He wanted to be known. But all of his dreams had now come crashing down, as his life force finally drifted away and the world around him blurred, as he drifted into darkness.

Suddenly, the red stone he had been carrying about began to light up with an etheral light, as it floated off from the ground right from where it was laid and floated to where Kenji's body had died.
