CHAPTER 17 Truth

  IAN'S POV

  "I didn't say that," he said, holding up his hands in mock surrender.

  "But if you meet someone who catches your eye, I wouldn't discourage it," he continued. "After all, you can't keep pining for someone who's not available. It'll only make you feel worse."

  "You're right," I said, knowing he was making sense, even if I didn't want to admit it. "But it's easier said than done."

  "I know it's not easy," he said, "but I think it's something you should at least consider. But for now, let's just have some fun at the party, okay?"

  I looked at him and nodded. "Alright, Pete, I'll try to have a good time," I said, giving in. "But I'm not making any promises."

  He laughed. "All I ask is that you give it a try," he said. "And who knows, you might have more fun than you expect."

  I smiled and sighed. "You're always the optimist," I said. "I guess I'll just have to try and keep up with you."
