IAN'S POV
As I drove to my parents' house, my mind raced with thoughts of how they would react to the news.
Would they be understanding? Or would they be upset that I had broken off the engagement?
I knew they had been excited about the wedding, and I felt bad about disappointing them. But I knew that I had to follow my heart, and my heart belonged to someone else.
When I arrived at their house, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. My mother answered, her face breaking into a smile when she saw me.
"Oh, Ian," she said, hugging me tightly.
"I'm so glad you're here," she said, stepping back to look at me. "Come in, come in. I've made some tea,"
I followed her inside, feeling a sense of nostalgia as I looked around the familiar rooms. It had been a while since I had visited my parents, and I realized how much I had missed them.
My father was sitting in the living room, reading a book. He looked up as I entered, a smile spreading across his face.
