CHAPTER 11: The discussion

John and Isabelle cruise down the highway with the soft glow of the dashboard lights illuminating their contented faces. The sweet melody of their favorite song filled the car, and they both sang along with their voices blending in harmony. Isabelle's hand rested on John's thigh, her fingers drumming a gentle rhythm on his leg.

As they approached their neighborhood, John's expression turned thoughtful. He glanced over at Isabelle, who was still lost in the music with her eyes closed and a serene smile on her face. He knew that their peaceful bubble was about to burst.

As they turned onto their street, John's grip on the steering wheel tightened. He could feel a sense of trepidation building in his chest. Rachel and Rebecca would be waiting at home and could be worried sick about his prolonged absence and then there was the matter of his plan... John's mind raced with anticipation and a hint of anxiety about how they would react when he told them.
