Hannah’s POV
Christian’s confession hung in the air between us, its weight pressing down on my chest.
I never felt it until I was married to Micheal. But after our divorce. I had always known there was something different about our friendship, but I had never allowed myself to explore what it might mean.
Now, with Christian’s raw emotions laid bare before me, I was forced to confront the reality that had been simmering beneath the surface all along.
His voice was still hoarse, tinged with the vulnerability that had taken me by surprise earlier.
“When I found out you were joining the company as a new colleague, I was so happy, Hannah,” he said, his eyes gleaming with sincerity.
“I could hardly believe it. I remember thinking that fate had finally given me another chance, a chance to be close to you, even if only as a coworker.”
His words struck a chord deep within me.
