CHAPTER 74 Feigned Innocence

  Jocelyn's POV

"Dominic!" I yelled the moment I entered through the grand high-ceilinged entrance of the mansion. Familiar scents of polished wood and fresh flowers welcomed me, but there lay no warmth here, much as was the case with the man owning the place.

"I brought some important documents from my father. He insisted that I deliver them personally."

Dominic came downstairs impassive from the top of the stairs, almost as if it would have been out of character if he'd looked different. He came downstairs deliberately in measured steps. "Your father has never sent you to deliver anything in person before," he said flatly. "He always sends his assistant."

I dredged up my most angelic smile, the one that got me out of trouble more times than I could count. "This is different, Dominic. It's highly confidential. He didn't trust anyone else with it."
