Dominic's POV
"Are you sure?" I exploded. "I walked her right into Robert's arms. She came to me for help, and I-" I fisted my hand in, feeling my nails dig deep into my palm. "I pushed her away. I thought she was in on it with him!"
Stefano's silence only built my guilt. "And now look at her. Look what he's done to her." I flung my phone onto the table. "This is all my fault."
"You couldn't have known-"
"Couldn't have known? I should have kept her safe!"
"Dominic," Stefano cut in. "It won't help her now to blame yourself. We need to find them before Robert can go any further."
I swallowed hard. My breathing was shaky. He was right, but the guilt still nipped at me. Sure, I'd let Jocelyn down, but Luca and Leila too. "God, Leila," I muttered. "She's too innocent for this."
"What kind of leader am I?" I said rubbing my temples.
"You're a man that loves the people around him," Stefano replied in a somber tone. "That's what Robert is using against you."
