CHAPTER 95 A Ticking Bomb

  Dominic's POV

"Jocelyn, we need to talk," I said the moment I entered the sitting room that had become hers. She looked up with a mock expression of innocence. "What's wrong?"

I moved closer, facing her. "Tell me the truth. Why were you in my office last night?"

Jocelyn feigned confusion. "I got lost looking for you. Is it such a crime to feel scared and want to be protected?" Her tone was reeking with manipulation, but I wasn't going to buy any of that.

I crossed my arms, staring her down. "And you couldn't wait until morning? You thought sneaking around at night would make you feel safer?"

She leaned in, her perfume cologne sweet, verging on acrid in the tight space. "I freaked out. I thought I was being watched. I went searching for you because I knew you'd understand."

"I pressed harder. "You are lying to me."

Her eyes widened, but she held firm. "I'm not lying, Dominic. I came to you because I trust you."
