Chapter 43

I knelt beside him, taking his hands in mine, and looked up at him with pleading eyes. It was a trick I'd perfected with my mother when I wanted her to change her mind.

"I won't be gone long. Max will accompany me," I said softly.

Max froze as Alexander's attention turned to him.

"Don't worry. I'll be back soon, okay?" I added, daring to kiss his left cheek.

I wish I hadn't done that. How foolish of me.

In one swift motion, he pulled me onto his lap, brushing my hair back.

"Max, get the car ready. I'm going with her," Alexander commanded.

I've never met anyone more stubborn than this man.

**From Ayor's Perspective:**

"Please, take this damned device out of me!"

The words barely escaped my lips between the moans. I crawled across the floor, trying to reach the chair where Edward sat, watching me with wicked amusement.

It was one of those toys he brought home last night. Damn that devil.
