Oh my god, I hadn't expected to see him here. Was he a student, or did he work on campus? A faint smile curved his lips as he helped me to my feet. 

"Apologies, Ms. Ibex. I didn't see…" 

"I'm the one who should be apologizing!" I cut him off, brushing the dust off my clothes. "Sorry, but I have to go. I have an exam in…" 

I checked my phone. Fifteen minutes left. I bolted before I could say more, his gaze following me as I hurried off. His presence lingered in my thoughts—he had such a striking aura, one that made it hard not to notice him.

When I reached the exam hall, my heart sank. 

"Apologies, but the exam ended an hour ago," the invigilator said curtly. 

"What?" I stammered. 

Maria arrived behind me, looking as stunned as I felt. Wait, wasn't she already in the university before me?
