[Chapter 31]
He smiled, and George and I exchanged glances.
"A-Ahm, shall we go? To Mama?" he asked.
I just nodded while smiling. When we entered his mother's room, I was taken aback. I didn’t expect his mother to look so bad in the hospital.
I noticed something—a machine that seemed to be the only thing keeping his mother alive.
"I'm scared, but I'm still hoping Mama will get better... that she'll wake up."
I looked at George, his face showing how much pain he was in as he gazed at his mother.
"Kuya, when will Mama wake up?" Joji asked.
"Joji, don’t worry. Mama will wake up soon."
It felt so heavy in my chest watching them. No one deserves to be in a situation like this, not any child, not anyone. It's just too painful and hard.
After a while, George went to buy something to drink. I was sitting outside his mother's room when Joji came up to me.
"Ate Garnett."
"Hmm?"
"You said Kuya is your favorite, right?"
I smiled at him.
"Yes, why?"
