Adam opened his eyes and found himself back in the room. Selene was watching him, searching for answers.
He explained everything he had seen; he didn't want to hide anything from her.
Selene frowned. She had never heard of that physicist or any primordial rune.
She didn't know who that person inside him could be, but they didn't seem to have bad intentions since they had been helping him. Besides, it wasn't like she could do anything about it.
"Let's fight," Adam suddenly said. He wanted to test his newly acquired strength.
Selene accepted; she was eager to see what he was capable of.
A blue flash appeared out of nowhere in what seemed to be a training field. From it, Adam and Selene emerged.
It was Adam's first time seeing this place, but with a single glance, he recognized it—it was the place where he had spent so much time over the years.
After observing it for a few moments, he turned toward Selene, who nodded at him. Both were ready to begin.
Adam lunged at Selene, his speed several times greater than before.
Selene frowned. She had adjusted her cultivation to the mid-elemental stage, and yet she struggled to keep up with him.
They exchanged hundreds of blows within minutes, but neither could gain the upper hand.
Adam was getting used to his new strength and to fighting while watching his opponent's movements. At first, it was difficult—after all, he had added a new sense to the equation. However, with each passing moment, his movements became more fluid.
Evidently, Selene was several steps ahead in terms of pure technique. She had been trained by the best masters of the Immortal Plane and hadn't been able to teach Adam much due to his former condition. The only reason the fight was balanced was because of Adam's raw power, which rivaled that of the high-elemental stage. Moreover, Selene wasn't known for being a great hand-to-hand fighter—her specialty was using deep spiritual techniques.
Then, Selene raised her cultivation to the high-elemental stage, gaining an advantage over Adam.
"Ugh…" Adam began receiving blows one after another; the difference in technique was too great. Selene seemed to know exactly what he was going to do at all times.
That's when Adam remembered what he had learned about his eyes' abilities. Something told him he should try directing the qi from his dantian to them. It wasn't an easy task—he still didn't have much control over his qi, and on top of that, he was in the middle of a fight with Selene.
Minutes passed, and they continued battling. Selene was surprised that Adam could endure for so long, though she unconsciously slowed down a bit. What she didn't know was that Adam was focusing most of his attention on something else.
"I got it," Adam thought triumphantly.
He had managed to channel the qi into his eyes, but there didn't seem to be any change.
"Future," he thought in his mind.
The golden rune in one of his eyes lit up faintly.
The effect was immediate. Adam felt his vision change in that eye. He was still watching his fight with Selene through both eyes, but different things were happening in each.
With the eye where the rune was activated, he saw Selene's attacks, but he didn't feel their impact. Meanwhile, in the other eye, he saw her strikes and felt their force, but a second later, he saw the same actions repeat as they had appeared in the eye with the rune.
Adam quickly realized—his rune granted him the ability to see one second into the future. A truly overpowered ability.
On the training field, the fight took a drastic turn. Selene found herself unable to land a single hit on Adam, who seemed to know her every move.
This made her frown. She decided to stop holding back.
She attacked as fast as she could from an unusual angle, confident that she would land her hit. There was no way he could anticipate it.
Adam smiled, and with a minimal movement, he dodged her attack and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her against his chest.
Selene couldn't believe it. He had read and reacted to her attack perfectly.
Before she could counterattack, she felt something wet on her lips.
—"Hmmmph!" —The sound of her voice was muffled by Adam's lips, who took advantage of his new ability.
The strength drained from Selene's body under Adam's sudden assault. At that moment, Adam broke the kiss and smiled.
—"I won."
—"Hmph, pervert!" —Selene exclaimed, turning her head in the opposite direction. Her reddened ears betrayed her.
—"How did you do it?" —she asked after taking a deep breath to calm herself. She knew that, under normal circumstances, he shouldn't have been able to read her movement.
Adam didn't answer immediately. He wanted to tease her a little.
—"Secret. I'll only tell you if you kiss me," he said, winking at her.
Selene had awakened a side of Adam she didn't know.
Without thinking too much about it, Selene pressed her lips lightly against his.
Adam was about to tell her it wasn't enough, but the look Selene gave him sent chills down his spine.
—"O-Okay. A deal is a deal," he said with a nervous smile.
Adam explained his ability to her. While it was extremely useful, he could only maintain it for a minute before his qi ran out. If he used spiritual techniques, the time would shorten even more, so he couldn't abuse it.
Selene didn't know how to react. "Too overpowered," she thought to herself.
She had never heard of a similar ability. There were cultivators who had visions of possible futures, and others with heightened reaction speeds. But seeing exactly what would happen in the next second?
As long as there wasn't too great a power difference, Adam would be practically invincible. This ability alone could grant him the title of Immortal Emperor. That's how powerful it was.
Knowing this, Selene warned him:
—"Adam, you must keep your abilities a secret as much as possible. If word spreads in the Immortal Plane about your talents, every Immortal Emperor will come after you. They won't allow someone with the power to threaten them to rise."
