Council of Divine [1]

"This is impossible... My Apostle has been killed this quickly!" Chrunus shook the entire divine realm as he witnessed his Apostle getting slaughtered like he was nothing.

His apostle was supposed to be strong enough to easily subdue anyone daring stand against him, and yet the apostle lay dead before him.

Not only that, Chrunus couldn't even retrieve his soul.

"Fortuna! Get over here!" Chrunus shouted into the void.

This was impossible.

Not only that, but he had sacrificed the Apex levels to empower the apostle.

To say Chrunus was angry was an understatement; he was absolutely livid.

Nobody dared so brazenly stand against him.

His form exuded so much dark mist that he resembled a cloud more than a humanoid being.

However, he calmed down as he felt a familiar form materialize. In his land of chalk, a hooded woman appeared, her presence as majestic as one would expect of a goddess.

Her long blonde hair flowed beneath her hood, her face was hidden while she had a majestic golden aura around her.

"Fortuna, why did it take you this long to arrive? When I call you, you are to come in an instant!" Chrunus demanded.

Fortuna bowed, "Forgive me, Lord Chrunus. I was observing interesting events currently ongoing in the mortal world."

"Interesting, in what way?" His form shifted, taking a more relaxed stance.

"Powerful beings appeared in the world... Some are even on par with me. My lord." She said with a hint of fear.

"Is it that damned upstart Iguva?" Chrunus spoke with disdain.

That damned mortal gained power rivaling his own, preventing Chrunus from eradicating the pest who was growing in power beneath his very nose.

And not only that, according to the goddess of fate more of these beings appeared.

For untold millennia, he was ruling over the mortals, both human and demi-human, his undisputed rule shaping the very land of the mortal world, and yet not only has the so-called Emperor appeared but also more similar beings.

Ever since the Emperor appeared his ancient temples laid abandoned, the land claimed by Iguva's power.

And worst of all?

Chrunus couldn't do anything but watch.

He desperately tried to maintain control over humanity, which worked. He had taken control of worshippers of all gods except Fortuna, who had her own uses.

She was useful for his plans, and so she was allowed to keep authority until the time her usefulness expired.

And yet, whoever had killed his Apostle was at least on Fortuna's level.

He had used Avaros to observe, to learn about this threat. And yet he learned precious little excluding a fact that whoever it was killed his Apostle effortlessly and denied the apostle's soul from Chrunus.

Fortuna approached his throne before kneeling. In her arms, she held a crystal orb about as large as a human head.

Chrunus shrunk down, letting himself observe what the orb would show.

He saw 4 white winged harpies completely obliterating cities filled with demi humans, not only that a whole legion of similar-looking beings marched, obliterating everything before them.

"What is this? A civil war? Speak to me Fortuna!" Chrunus demanded his form exhuding even more mist than before.

She shook her head, her expression conveying both hope and worry.

"No, these creatures are not Demi-Humans at all... I was not able to peer into their nature." She spoke calmly.

"You? You are a damn goddess of Fate. What do you think I allowed you to keep your worshippers and most of your power for?!" Chrunus echoed over the land of Chalk.

"I tried lord Chrunus, but no matter what, I couldn't discern their nature!" She defended herself, fear evident.

Chrunus was someone she could never hope to beat or defy; if he had decided Fortuna was to die this day, she couldn't protest.

"Try Harder then! Or do you want to lose your position like those other useless so-called 'gods'. Call for all of those parasites to meet me, they may have their use now." His gaze terrified her, sending shivers down her spine.

"I will try my best, Lord Chrunus. Forgive me for my incompetence." She bowed as her form dematerialized.

Chrunus grew in size once again, returning to his giant form.

He approached the Throne before taking a seat.

The unknown beings were surely powerful, however, their actions were nothing the lesser gods couldn't handle.

He didn't wish to send Fortuna to deal with them yet.

She was his most powerful pawn and was to be used only when no other option was available.

She was his eye of the world, her eyes beat even his. Nothing was hidden from her sight.

He needed to meet the lesser ones; even one of them would surely be stronger than these unknown demihumans.

They were a danger for him, they were doing good work with destroying Iguva's territory. However, the moment they finished, they would turn their gazes onto his Humanity.

He would not allow it.

He had lost demihuman worshippers, he would not lose Humans too, even if he had to sacrifice lesser gods.

A council of gods would start soon.

They were all useless; they once were his rivals, but with sudden gain of immense power, he was able to strip and dominate all of the other gods.

He did not know why he had gained such immense power, perhaps because universe itself deemed him supreme being of all creation.

And yet there was Iguva, and now there was an enigmatic being that destroyed his Apostle.

He doubted the being was stronger than even Fortuna, however his worry grew.

Worshipless gods would be no match for someone at Fortuna's level.

However, it was still too early for him to intervene.

He had plans to bring demihumans back into the fold, but first other gods had to deal with issues that arose.

They weren't enough to deal with Iguva, which was partly of a reason why Chrunus had taken their worshippers, cutting god's source of strength.

Now they were at his mercy, as they had no way to replenish themselves.
