Thief

"Wow," exclaimed the audience as she played the game, while the other players gave her a cold look with clenched jaws and dilated nostrils. She was not intimidated by their looks or scared of losing to them; this was her third victory, and it made her feel good to see how angry they were.

"My princess, we had better return to the palace quickly before your father finds out you are not there." Eugene whispered, tired of being around these dangerous looking folk, she wonder why princess Zara doesn't have a problem

Zara reassured Eugene, patting her palm, "Do not be such a kill joy, the game is just becoming fascinating, do not worry, I will pay you thirty percent of what I gain tonight," before returning her attention to the game.

Eugene had a worried look with a tight lipped smile, she search around throughly to be sure that everyone in the casino weren't working in the palace, if only the princess would listen to her, she won't be stressing this much.

"Don't you have any dress up parties to be apart from this bar," one of the players called it sushi her with his hand as another player agreed with him.

"She's probably cheating that's why she's winning so easily,"

"The only thing I have to do, is to win you guys more, don't be in such a hurry to chase me out, only losers think that winners cheat," she bragged with an evil laughter, angering the men more for stepping on their ego.

Eugene became more scared after what Zara did, they haven't bring any guards with them and Zara refuse to let them know that she's a princess, who knows what this men might do to them out of anger.

Zara on the other hand didn't flinch or acted scared, she had a dirty grin on her face till the noise began to lessen.

"Fine, since am the one winning the most, I'll make my bid higher than yours, isn't that fair enough?" She placed the bag filled with hundreds of gold on the table as all the players nodded in agreement.

"Let begin," one of the players began to shuffle and place the card for each of the players.

Eugene whose eyes have been all over the casino noticed that someone wearing a hooded coat had been staring at them for a long time, she can't help but think it's a spy from the palace.

"Sorry princess, I can't help but noticed the guy beside the corner have been looking at us to much," she reported to Zara, as the guy pretended to be looking at another table filled with players.

"Can you stop wasting our time young lady," one of the players yelled at Zara who had been distracted.

"It's just your suspicion Eugene," Zara siad before turning back to the game, Eugene who knew what she saw refused to report the issues after the strange person continued staring.

Suddenly the strange person left his position to the table while was closer to them making Eugene grip her bag even more, she turned to look at Zara who was to intense in the game, reporting her would be of no use, she just have to be careful.

As she was contemplating on the situation, she felt something sharp poking her bottom waist, she turned slowly to see what it was which scared the wit out of her, the man she was suspecting was holding a knife behind her.

"Be a good girl and give me the bag or else," he pressed the knife deeper as bead of sweat began to form on her forehead with her eyes froze open, she was scared stiff as the thief placed his hands on her, refusing to make a sound for the fear of being stabbed.

Zara who felt uneasy turn to see what was happening, but the thief pushed Eugene toward her, running away with their bag.

"My princess, he took all our mon...," Zara didn't wait to listen to her and quickly chased after the thief, Eugene who can't return to the Palace without the princess hurriedly join the princess in chasing the thief, leaving the other players who were fighting over whose gonna take Zara's gold.

"Stop there you thief," Zara shouted, slamming and knocking down passengers on the way.

"Hurry take the short passage to the front," she instructed Eugene who was a little hesitant to leave her side.

"Now...,"

***

"Gotcha," Eugene stopped the thief from the front spread her hands widely as a sign of block, getting the thief frustrated, 'why can't they just forget about the money,"

The thief quickly pulled out a knife scaring the life out of Eugene as she moved backwards for the fear the thief might truly hurt her with it.

She quickly picked up the short stick beside her when the thief got closer, "move one step forward and I'll hit you with my stick,"

"What make you think I'll be afraid of your stick, I got a knife," she threw the stick with clampy hands at the thief, who didn't flinch but watch it pass above him to a corner.

"Haha, haa...,you really thought you can hit me ou....," Zara hit hard on the head with a big stick, taking her bag and the knife from him before rushing over to Eugene.

"I'll get my revenge from you one day," the thief fumed holding his blood stain head as tried to get up from the floor.

"How about now petty thief," Zara pretended to chase him with a knife, who gallop away out of fear.

"Are you okay"Zara asked Eugene, examining her body for any mark or wound.

"I'm fine, how about you?"

"I'm good,"

"We need to go back to the palace,"

"I'm sure it was prickled nose idea to steal my wins from me, I even left my gold with them,"

"It's doesn't matter, you will get more in the next win," Eugene bellowed mildly, grabbing Zara's hand to force her to move before anything else will cross her mind.

"Come.. on..., I promise it won't take long,"

"Your father...,"

"It won't take more than ten minutes,"

"Fine.." Eugene said, after a long moment of silence between them. "Just ten minutes,"

"Good,"

Zara bought some sweet and street food for the kid beggars she had promised"promise me you won't still again,"she warned the kids who promise not to with cross fingers, they know they are gonna do so if the money she gave them finish.

"Here you gonna," she threw the remaining sack of money to Eugene who just looked at it astonishingly.

"That will ease the stress I had put you through today,"
